Have you ever seen someone having a sickle cell attack before? I saw one once and the picture is ever fresh in my mind. I don't waste time asking for such info like genotype. it's hard wired into me to ask a "lady of interest" her genotype. If she doesn't know, its no big deal I'd gladly take her to the hospital to find out and while we are at that, an HIV test also would be done!

I have not asked her of her genotype yet. Still waiting for the right time.

Everyone, this might sound strange but it is the truth...as much as it is good to check, there can be error especially in Nigeria. Lemme share my own story, I am married to an AS and did my testing which indicated AA twice in Nigeria. We got married and now have a child and expecting another...as is the practise in the western world, we were asked to do another testing and the result indicated that I am AD carrier(whatever that means). I was confused at first but discovered that an AS carrier and AD carrier stand a chance to have an SD child which could be diagnosed as SS...

This is so conincedental my girl has severally asked me to go for d genotype test thing but like your Girl I took it for granted. She called dis morning demanding dat I do it so I just left d office and got to a test centre and took d test. The result came out this evening and I am AA so like my girl just keep telling her keep saying it soon u wld discover she would on her own volition go for the test.

My husband (then a friend) asked me less than a month after we met cos he's AS. i just sensed he was taking our friendship to a new level. anyways, i have always felt i was AA cos evryone in my family is but i equally confirmed it from a lab after he asked.

Why should be a problem? It's just like asking about her age so I dont see why it should be a big deal. By the way I just found out mine about 4yrs ago

I am AS, I told my babe dat abt 4months after we met.she thinkin dat am nt serious wit her didn't tell me hers until she now sees my continous interest in her.unfortunately hers was AS so I told her to repeat de tests. Still xpecting de result 2moro
