Oriol Romeu underwent anterior cruciate reconstruction surgery and medial meniscus repair yesterday (Monday). He is expected to be out for six months. The 21-year-old midfielder suffered the knee injury during the first half of the match at Sunderland on Saturday and returned to London for assessment instead of flying to Japan. He has played nine games this season and 33 overall since joining in the summer of 2011. George Saville, who was not in the original squad submitted for the Club World Cup, has been added in accordance with FIFA's competition regulations. |
