owoblow77: Yes its much more humane to strive towards bettering our networth without being unduly pessimistic. ...it would at least show that one is patriotic with a human face and empathetic of the possible plight of others. However, its normal that in the stock mkt most folks who are out on the sideline with their funds will like to talk down on 'things' to infest fear on those in, so they can key in. ...oftentimes those inputs are exaggerated. Those not in (the pessimist camp) would deploy several pranks and 'pray' that the mkt drops, so they'll get in at a cheap, while those in (the optimist camp) will tour the path of believing in the opposite. It's a normal trend that can be seeing in the market globally. So if as a mkt player, u can not live with this 'normal' trend, then the stock mkt is definitely not for u. ...put differently, the global stock mkt knows not what it means to have a human face !! Remember that the pessimist camp are also a part of the mkt circle. ...so u can not exclude them. The solution? It calls for disciplinary measures and emotional management. That's why I always advise folks to have a WORKABLE STRATEGY that's just good enough to suit their investment style, goals/target and personality. ...and once u have it, just do well to stick religiously to it. For though u won't be perfect (no one is), but u will to a very large extent know when and how to manage FEAR (with a mkt downturn) and GREED (with a mkt up rise). ...because then, u always have a clear path/guideline to follow. That way, u wouldn't be bothered about any 'noise' from the pessimist camp !! That's the simple solution. There are some select clear opportunities right now in the mkt. Regards. 1 Like |

With the new market trend, I observe diamond bank faithfuls are no longer complaining... Even coys with far better fundamentals have been hit worse than DiamondB. 1 Like |

Chibuking81: I knew this would happen and so bad many were caught unawares. Asian tigers are still pulling out their capital and profits and this they will do till the last cent is pulled out. mind you, the strategy my change next week to cause artificial bulls so that some can still hit their heads then after, they resume back and pull more out so let the bear continue while it last 1 Like |

Why should they cry sir? Niggas lost means of livelihood men, fear & uncertainties. Mr. Rabbi, have you been able to pull this off personally? Among the factors that you need to pull this off is time & stable income source. You need time to build other stable sources of income that will sufficiently meet your needs . Add being a family man to the equation, the financials go up. You need money & time to build a sustainable, profitable business. If your business fails, you need funds from you salary to jump-start it again, & correct your mistakes. The returns on real estate versus what you invested is small. ''Save up, reduce expenses, invest wisely'', realistically it is difficult. Are your expenses the same when you were a bachelor versus being a new dad? Folks here are trying to invests wisely, yet some are losing good sums. You need a good source of income, to enable build up other sources over time. Did Pa Emma, or Oga Wanaj0 build-up their net-worth in a short while? I believe to do it legitimately, it must be done over time, with a good income flow. RabbiDoracle: |

onegentleguy: From Fidelity at 4.17 to FMN at 37.40. How can merely ignoring post help? You said FMN would reach 70, isn't it the bears that have made projections such as 5th Avenue and 49th boulevard rare these days? Even the frequency of back room revelations too. The fact is losses aren't fun especially when market is taking from you what it didn't earlier give. Fxuser was spot on when he talked about reducing position to reduce aches. From about 9%, I'm less than 4% in currently. That's what eases it for me. 2 Likes |

yom2: I have read thru ur many post on the defence of certain FPIs particularly Milost inv. ...and believe me Sir, I would've loved to allign with ur reasoning except for the fact that certain guidelines ought to be laid down and followed when pursuing an investment. ...this, both on the part of the FPI and their target companies. Those core guideline and procedures are a non-negotiable requisite. ...especially if the absence of it would be detrimental to stakeholders. With JAPAUL and UNITY BANK, it was clear that those were not followed. I do not think anyone said its bad to have these coys re-awakened via the injection of fresh capital or otherwise. The crux of the matter was that any such re-awakening should be done the RIGHT WAY. ...that way, stakeholders like u and I would be better off for it, and the companies involved would also be in a better stead in the long run. Again, u have to understand that the agitation and call for caution stemmed from the fact that most of the said coys were already extensively badly mismanaged. ...they've had very bad managers. (I wish u know about Jegedes antecedents). ...see also how Oando has eroded so much value for investors in years, and many other cases. Yes there's no doubt that these companies are in need of some form of 'help' but if only u can steer off sentiment and give a recourse to critical thinking, u will observe that some of these so called deals has the bold pegs of SCAM written all over them !! ...U do not need a soothsayer to tell u that the Milost 'folks' were of a very questionable inclination. ...just look deeper. In all, I do not think the companies or the stakeholders in them would've been better off with the likes of Milost. "Better to reside in a small kiosk with peace of mind than to be involved in a feast with ill-disposed kings that would later amount to futility !! When the right FPI with a clear objective, prospect and forward-looking positive intention come up for the companies, investors will give all their support to it. Cheers. |

Good thing for the index is DANGCEM was still relatively spared by this week's bear. otherwise YTD would have been sub 1%. Even if someone sees this as a good entry time, I think next week may even be better, and the one after perhaps much better. |

https://www.premiumtimesng.com/foreign/africa/269760-south-africans-defrauded-of-80-million-in-cryptocurrency-scam.html scam Bitcoin May 25, 2018Oladeinde Olawoyin South African Police on Friday said that the authorities are investigating an alleged cryptocurrency scam that defrauded investors of 1 billion rand ($80 million). The fraud, involving a company named BTC Global, was orchestrated with promises of huge returns that never materialised. BTC Global allegedly told clients they would earn two per cent per day, 14 per cent a week and 50 per cent in a month. Reuters reports Friday that a search for the company on the internet showed its services had been suspended. Although, the website lists Steven Twain as the “primary trader”, request for comment sent to an email address listed on the website as belonging to Twain received no response. “Members of the public are believed to have been targeted as part of the scam and encouraged by agents of BTC Global,” the police said in a statement Friday. “Some of the investors got paid in terms of the agreement. However, the payments suddenly stopped.” “This may prove to be the tip of the iceberg with potentially thousands more yet to discover they’ve lost money,” police investigator Yolisa Matakata said. On Thursday South Africa’s central bank said it was in the process of determining whether cryptocurrencies complied with its financial surveillance and exchange control regulations. Cryptocurrency is a digital asset designed to work as a medium of exchange that uses cryptography (the art of writing and solving codes) to secure its transactions, control the creation of additional units, and to verify the transfer of assets. In March, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) cautioned Nigerians to be wary of investments in the digital currency, stressing that virtual currencies are not legal tender in Nigeria. The bank said cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, ripples, monero, litecoin, dogecoin, onecoin and exchanges such as NairaEx were not licensed or regulated by the CBN. 1 Like |
