ukay2: Yes o! As mentioned earlier re. watching out 4 rising yield in FGN bonds - a Meffy desperate move to at least keep the FPI $ from leaving 9ja, since our reserve is depleting fast and new $ not coming in droves.... Bad and costly CBN move to avoid imminent devaluation, though! Besides being anti-climax re. the desperate inclusive growth we really need in this country. Only the FPI guys are smiling now re. profitable carry trade - easy dollar return for them esp with the new 5-year $ futures contract. |

emmanuelewumi: True and not true, Sir! Individuals with limited funds, yes, but not true, for all the HNW investors and corporate guys with sqoush funds who solely look to scalp the market just 5 or 10% returns repeatedly. Some guys are even scalping with huge volume N1 net absolute returns of Zenith and GTB stocks repeatedly. They do this for a living! Just look at what the T-bills guys are doing to the equity mkts for now. The era of 25% appreciation at once for fundamental stocks in the mkt is gone for now apart from one-off or illiquid stocks. More reason, why I said earlier that the mkt for now is massively rigged against long term investors. Hopefully, post-PMB, the mkt dynamics would change, but for now... 4 Likes |

emmanuelewumi: Yes o for dividend hunters esp ancestral investors... Whilst folks will be getting return ON their capital no doubt, return OF their capital 100% is suspect for now esp folks that bought high during this PMB era (and going thru d dreaded devaluation as well). Most haven't recovered or broken even, capital appreciation wise (factoring in devaluation effect as well). If you bought low pre-PMB era, then no shaking and you stand gidigba! Just my 2koko observation! 2 Likes |

Whenever brokers want to trap people, it is the market of the last 15mins...... I remember following my friend to a local market, he decided to join other traders in a bar nearby. They dinned and wined, chatting all through, keeping an eye on the flow of market women, occasionally they will go out and offer very bad prices and wont even bother to continue with the bargain, return and continue drinking, clinging tightly to their cash. When the sun began to bite hard, some bold market women started collecting food on credit, promising to pay back when they sell, meanwhile, more market women poured into the market. I kept asking my friend when he is going to start buying, he kept telling me to wait until the food sellers start worrying the market women who collected food on credit to pay........................................ 7 Likes 2 Shares |

Marlianvestor: The high blood pressure and sleepless nights during the bear era cannot be ruled out. No High Networth Investor will build his sustainance solely on a factor ie capital appreciation which he can't control. Some of his capital appreciation loots would have been Invested in money market funds, bonds, real estate etc Show me a multibillionaire or millionaire who committed suicide during recession or economic meltdown, I can tell you that was someone who took unnecessary risk, trying to hammer based on factors beyond his control and his bet went wrong big time 4 Likes 1 Share |

emmanuelewumi: ...more reason, why I specifically said squosh funds, aka loose monies, aka left-over funds after having invested massively on conviction asset classes re. sustainability of wealth etc. It could also be 10% of portfolio funds dedicated to speculative trading etc.... Hoping you get my drift now, Sir! Squosh funds always tend to look for quick high risk/high returns investing opportunities. |

emmanuelewumi: I'm suspecting a higher dividend payout from UBA too. From the precedent of UCAP & Afriprud, it appears Boss Tony needs some cash. I'm seeing something that may look like a trend(not certain yet) of the indigenous big boys of the banks divesting. Are they seeing better opportunities elsewhere? |
