[quote author=stevemims post=99448119]Can anyone help clarify what should be in the column for the shareholder's account number? Should it be a bank account number or a stock broking account number?

The shareholder's account number is assigned by d registrar. You don't have it. Leave it blank.
If it was to be in the days of physical dividend warrants it's always written there.

The shareholder's account number is assigned by d registrar. It has nothing to do with your stockbroking account. You don't have it. Leave the space blank. The form will still fly.

If it was to be in the days of physical dividend warrants it's always written there.

It seems that they deliberately block high volume clients" accounts whenever there is a rally in the market...
They might sell your stocks at high price and later buy it back when there is a dip...behind your back.
Your account with them would show actual balance of stocks...but they are running things behind.
They would block your account under guise of frivolous excuses.

Your transaction history on CSCS online will show it if it happened, the date of the transaction, volume of shares and price

You can take it up with them by reporting to the authorities

I have had this kind of experience. How do you see your bids on the NSE platform?

You just observe the live feed immediately you bid, the number on the stock should increase by at least your bid amount

Ok.
But if the account is blocked already, won't they have blocked the updating as well.

Another thing is if the rally in the market was orchestrated to benefit them only, then they could block others so that only selected traders were selling at that moment.
For example, if a PFA wanted to buy some stocks for their portfolio, their friends in the industry might get the info and then created a pseudo rally. They would only make a bull out of the required stocks. During the time, they would suspend high volume and high frequency traders. This would help their bull as well. After they were done with the dumping, they would remove the suspension for most people. But if they had special grudge against you, your own suspension may last a lifetime.
Also during a massive bear, similar thing could done.

All transactions on your portfolio can be found on your transaction history.

Rather than complaining about your Stockbroker, don't you think it is better you transfer your account

It might include commission and fees. Have you received a purchase contract?

It didn't include charges and fees, they added it with the total cost.
I observed that they deliberately stopped sending the buy/sell contract notes to me since last year.

They don't allow my order to go to nse portal directly anymore. They now hijack my order, buy/sell for me at the price they like and also send the number of units at the price they like at the total amount that falls short of what i bought.
I included this complaint in my last mail to them. I will call and speak to them physically next week. If they dont comply, i would pack my baggages from Meritrade. It seems they have targeted my account for their fraud.
This is because they have been doing it before and getting away with it and so they want to continue.
They could do it in the pasr because i started trading with them long time ago when i was a novice i used to trade with complete trust without thinking about any danger of fraud.
There was a time long ago some of my stocks suddenly disappeared and i when i called, they said it was a mistake and quickly restored them.
If you have not experienced these before, you must have started trading with them when you were already well grounded in the system and they knew they couldn't try any shit with you.
Thanks.

Is it an easy process? Years back, when i wanted to transfer my account from Forthtrader to another broker, they did all they could to frustrate it. You know that they would also sign somewhere in the transfer form. The nse, was not forceful enough to make the transfer process successful. Eventually, i had to stay put and make a strategic withdrawal from them. Though, i still left some if my stock with them till today.

Very easy to transfer your account, always better for the target Stockbroker to do the transfer on your behalf

ymercy has been on a rather silent mode since yesterday. Anything the Mercy is quiet, nsem seems to be ominously quiet. I must confess that anytime i log in, the first thing i do is searching for her voice in order to feel the climate of the market.

Apart from giving many of us free and selfless stocks suggestions and insights into the market, she also radiates hope, encouragement, liveliness and softening up the terrain, especially for newcomers.

I didn't feel comfortable when i heard someone jokingly referred to her as a commentator yesterday, though, he meant no harm. I think she doesn't deserve that appellation. She has been doing much much more than a commentator. She has even earned for herself the status of a guru on this trade, and however humble and approachable.
She has been of tremendous help and those of us on the popular side would never allow the elites to discourage her.

More grease to your elbows madam. We highly appreciate you.

Those Meristem users have the carriage of "we are above issues" because they pay higher fees and believed their broker is the best...... grin

Thank God it's not Morgan, you would have read different 'mockery' comments like......."when you like cheap things", what do you expect when you pay so low for a service,.........etc. grin

I can remember one time like that: Someone came to make inquiry of which broker to use and he mentioned the likely big amount he wished to invest.........they "cropped" Morgan out and were mentioning the likes of Stanbic, Meristem............na me come say hahaaa, why you no mention Morgan Capital nah? I come mention am........grin

Probably some of the transactions are cross deals.

Change your Stockbroker, open a Stockbroking account with another firm using the same CHN. After this you can ask the new Stockbroker to process the transfer of your portfolio

I no dey sure say Meristem commission reach GTI Securities Limited own. Those guys commission na die. grin
GTI commission is low compared to Meristem.
Maybe you're transacting with large fund.......but that should even make you to negotiate it a bit down with them.
Maybe you need to recheck to be sure you're not been over-charged. Pay attention to the transaction and the commission they used to deduct on each transaction.
.......Speaking from past experience on the last statement.......though it was an error that time and was corrected.

I wrote them a mail minutes ago.
I earlier sent an order to buy a stock for me at a limit price of #1.50k and #1.80k. The best best offer was #1.80k while the best bid was #1.50k. I bidded for the best offer because the bid outweighed the offer.

So, they ignored my Price Limit and bought for me at #2.04k ! Can you imagine? Even as i am writing now, the price of the stock is #1.98k ! .
Oga Tolu, maybe they got it for you a bit higher than what you considered as the "N1.80 best offer", say around 1.90 for instance.
By the time they spread your purchase commission on it, your cost price may move up to that N2.04......especially if involved large units.
Just saying ooo, I don't use Meristem...........just used Morgan idea. grin
That's why you need to always include "price limit" if they're buying/selling on your behalf.
Maybe you need to carry out some checks and ask them questions/clarification.

All this slander against Meritrade with no convincing evidence?
Some people employ their services and are not complaining so why are you spamming the thread with your slanders instead of just doing the obvious?

Your poor recommendation have been duly noted so avoid further bashing of Meristem from henceforth and switch to a "better" stock broking firm.

I've not been receiving x alert as well but contract notes have been regular. I had to request my CSCS print out yesterday and realised that all was in order. Perhaps, you might want to do the same so as to put your mind at ease.
