There is a business before a stock. Always understand the business, know the business enviroment, understand the strenght, profitability and sustainability of the business. Then learn how to value a business based on your knowledge of the various valuation techniques.

Unfortunately more than 90% of the players in the stockmarket understand the stocks, but know little or nothing about the businesses behind the stocks

We have good businesses whose stocks are bad, we have good businesses whose stocks are good, we have bad businesses whose stocks are bad, we also have bad bussinesses whose stocks are good. You need to understand the different scenarios.

Always good to buy good businesses whose stocks are good for the long term and wealth creation.

You can buy bad businesses whose stocks are good onces in a while for asset play and short term trading. These types of events happen when the bad company is selling below its working capital due to over punishment by the market

What is the compounded annualised earning growth of Transcorp, what is the return on equity, what is the dividend yield, what is the dividend payout ratio.

If you dividend payout ratio is 20% and below, the business should have an awesome earning growth which will lead to an annual dividend growth. What is the growth rate of Transcorp dividend in the last 5 years.


I see Transcorp as a bad business which is now a good stock because of its pricing

Both stocks are good to buy. The currently bull favours producers and manufacturing companies, It show in their first Q results.

I have a feeling that Africa Free Trade agreement is the catalyst. No need for debate. GSK did well beyond the old normal, Fidson perform excellently.

I can't say how GSK will perform in the future, but I can say that in the present it is unbelievably cheap. First, the companies liquidation value is at minimum N6.80/share and that is a very conservative estimate. Even if you forecast the company to have almost no revenue growth you will calculate a fair value of at least N11-N12 naira

For one week sef, IB return same roi Seplat give for 1 year.

I held SEPLAT for a year. Main reason for selling is the current yield. I can get better yield from other options at the moment. And the other options look like they have better upside than SEPLAT. Example is UCAP, forward yield is around 15% (no guarantees but a reasonable estimate).
