I have read all your comments and I must say it gladdens my heart, but the good and negative comments are welcome, it's part of the territory, I was skeptical about it in the beginning but the responses I got from peeps all over the world was fantastic, many were of the opinion they wanted something new and refreshing, the amount of hits we get on the page is a testament to the fact it is catching up. There were a bit of derogatory statements made on nairaland which is fine by me, in journalism it comes with the territory. Thanks for your contributions

I agree. speaking pidgin has a curve. And reading it has an even steeeper curve. If this was done to attract readers who can not read english, then it is unnecessary. Reading pidgin requires a skill inaccessible to people who cannot read english.

I beg to differ we cant toy wiv the fact that this helps in putting Naija on da map, anyhow u view it, its an improvement, makes the news stuff more informal, and from the comments that will be written after a news, it will create a web of friendship, Nigerians know that this is their own and there will be no changing that, besides the complexity seems less if u get the central point, am all abou Nigerians having their own niche and spreading whats their's.

I disagree with u. Pidgin english is easier among the aforementioned class of people when spoken or heard. It's quite difficult to comprehend written texts of pidgin english than pure english..

In other words, pidgin is more understandable orally/vocally than pure english while pure english is more understandable writing it/reading it than pidgin. Won't u agree?

The english has their way of speaking english, americans has theirs..(thats why u have american english and british english) do u knw writin in american english is not acceptable in sum british schools... dis is another opportunity 4 us to export our own lingua to the world..the way we are döing thru music... That's my point....No it isnt easy to comprehend pidgin english in written form. In small digestable bits it's fine but this is too much and i can imagine not too easy to put together. As far as i'm concerned anything in pidgin english (written or oral e.g radio) tends to be laced with comedy.

what has speaking pidgin got to do with your english language as a whole. pidgin never destroys your english in anyway, if one has problems stringing a correct sentence in english, it has nothing to do with the fact that you speak pidgin. it just means this: when others were reading "eze goes to school", the individual was sleeping. and as for spellings. they aint issues at all, they re just short-hand ways of writing long words. everyone knows that i would presume.

which brings me to this, i hope you wont take offence sha, am just trying to understand something. your first sentence. where you going to say "this is just plain ignorance" which sounds kinda correct, or you re sticking with what you wrote, which kind of sounds not so correct. i guess u didnt read eze goes to school. lol. but spoke eze don go skool oh! lol

Fellow Nairalanders, we can make own feelings known without using vile and vain words, pidgin is a phenomenom and we are exploring every angle to use it's potentials, there are certain things I can't divulge here but I can assure you it has put naija on the map despite less than a month on the site. I try my best, just got a call from someone in Benin who told me, when he wakes up, he goes to linda ikejis's blog then FB and the pidgin site is next, yet someone said we are ignorant and stupid for starting stuff like that.
