People are in the relationship for the wrong reasons.

Also too many kids(emotionaly, psychologically, financially etc) going into relationship(evident by the some of the threads on the romance section).

Besides not every relationship is meant to lead to marriage.

First and foremost, a lot of people don't know what they want, and since they don't know what they really want from a relationship, anything will satisfy them. It's like the saying "if u don't knw where u are going, any road will take u there". People need to spell out what they need out of a relationship, try to cling to someone they perceive will help them achieve their relationship goals, and with a collective effort, work towards achieving their aim.

Secondly, people need to study each other hook, line and sinker to know each other's strengths and shortcomings. Knowing ur partner's virtues and vices gives u a better understanding (which a lot of relationshipz lack today) of the person, and as such helpz in relating with one another without much misunderstanding (which often leads to break-ups if not handled properly).

It's so disheartening that people prioritize secondary attributes over the primary and salient ones.. Sex, beauty, money, etcetera can not determine the longevity of a true relationship.. Unless we take cognizance of the aforementioned things I highlighted at the formal part of this post, coupled with some other spices (character, honesty, the fear of God, etc), our relationshipz will seldom stand the test of time...
