Much as we ll tell the world about God's love for us and his mercies we must also balance it with telling them the danger in rejecting his love and mercies. Jesus himself preached hell with so much emphasis in mark 9:43-48 and other portions of the scriptures. The kingdom of God is not only bread and butter. Go thru the new testament you will see that Jesus didnt preach bread and butter gospel, the apostles didnt preach it too. Pls preach about God's love and his judgment. Thats a balanced one.

Have we as Christians ever wondered why so many kids who were brought up in Christian homes have grown up to reject the gospel ?

I will tell you why , because all they heard as kids was the constant threat of eternal torment and God's constant wrath. So when they grew up , they simply refused to live with these constant threats for the rest of their lives.

The gospel should indeed provide hope and is called the good news for a reason. It is good news because through it , we are delivered from sin and it's associated sorrows while also having the promise of eternal life even when we know we may one day experience physical death.

The gospel is that we should repent from our sins and follow Jesus , waiting for the promise of a new heaven and earth and life immortal when he next appears.

The alternative is to continue in sin with all the inherent sorrows and anguish , and expect not eternal life but eternal death.

As Father GOD kept telling the Jews :

"15 See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. 16 For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess." - Deuteronomy 30:15-16

God does not rule by fear but by Love.

Yes , the consequence of sin is misery and death and we must make people know this, however this hell we talk about is not the mythical nonsense of an eternal roasting of human bodies or an immediate descent into hell before the coming of Christ.

Emphasis should always be on the good news.

Oh , by the way , do you know that Jesus preached on Hell more often to the Jews/Pharisees of those times than he did to the sinners. Which is the same as saying that the church needs to hear the message of Hell more than sinners because many are falsely secure in their false doctrines and false churchianity life styles, thinking that church membership will save them.

My brother dont conclude that it is emotional nonsense because millions of people from diferent parts of the world, different religous background, different cultural background, different churches and even atheists have had this experience and testified of it. The discription each of them gave about hell is that of a place of great torment which is also how Jesus described hell in the bible so pls dont draw conclusion because it remains your own opinion. The gospel must be preached in balance. We cannot preach God's love without mentioning his judgement, neither can we preach God's judgement without mentioning his love. To do one and neglect the other will lead to a message of error.

Of all the people that spoke of hell in the Bible, our Lord Jesus spoke of it the most. To say we must not mention hell when we preach to people is like (for me sha) another way of saying that Jesus did not know what he was doing. Remember, he (Jesus) is our example, and we must follow him and not our 'feel-good' notions of love. People must know that there is a heaven to gain and a hell to shun.

Extensive argument about hell has been done here in the past and i do not intend to start another one but I still maintain that we cant rule their testimonies out. If it is people from a particular church that is testifying this i would ve had my doubts. These testimonies has caused people who heard it to repent and seek for salvation. As far as their description about hell is not in constrast with the place of torment as described in the scriptures then we cant rule them out.
