People are funny and interesting. I say this because, recently, while conducting a research on the bulk sms industry in Nigeria, I discovered that a high number of Nigerians search for the key term: “cheapest bulk sms service in Nigeria.” Heck, some people even want it completely FREE!

So, I ask, “Isn’t bulk sms already cheap enough in Nigeria?”

Hey, let’s consider it… the price ranges from like 80 kobo to N2.

** Isn't this cheap enough to earn a customer’s eyeball?
** Isn't it dead cheap enough to acquire a new customer?

Compare it to the CPA (Cost Per Acquisition) of customers from other traffic sources and you’ll see that bulk sms is dead cheap! Yet, people still search for cheap bulk sms, as if we have expensive bulk sms services.

As a result of this, bulk sms service providers in Nigeria weave a lot of sales gimmickry to entice customers to use their service.

Some will advertise a very cheap price only to reveal later on in their website that customers have to buy high volume to qualify for that low price. Some even double-charge their users when they send bulk sms without letting them know.

Does it have to be this way? Let me know what you think…
