Atlético de Madrid striker, Radamel Falcao is to be crowned the 2012 player of the year at this year's Globe Soccer Awards ceremony, which is being held in Dubai on 28th and 29th December. 'The Tiger' has capped an outstanding year. 49 goals in 2012 prove his worth, as do the two titles he won with Atlético. The Colombian proved decisive in both tournaments after scoring a brace in the Europa League final and a hat-trick in the European Super Cup final. Because of his award and having to travel to Dubai to collect it, Falcao will start training with Atlético later than the rest of his teammates. Atlético is set to return to training next Saturday 29th December after its Christmas holidays, but the Colombian is expected to join up with Simeone and the rest of the squad a day later on Sunday 30th December. As well as Falcao, Atlético is nominated alongside Chelsea, BATE Borisov and Juventus for the team of the year award.
