babestella: This is to all recently sacked Fidelity staffs, please take heart, and prepare to start something new in 2013, this is an opportunity for you to jump start your ideas. Fidelity have sacked you, but they can stop your moving forward. The sack is not the end of the road or life. Pray and plan well, and soon the bank will beg you to be their customer.

It is quite a sad news to end 2012. I don't know why they had to give people sad news during a season of rejoicing. Our leaders and managers are just the same. Early this year, the best new year gift from the government was an increase in fuel pump price, now our managers in the corporate world have followed the trend.

Well, I wish you well, and may God guide you all into your glorious future in 2013.
I really just hate dis bank

sincerely its a sad one; but life is full of surprises, i pray the people concerned are able to bear and come out of it: Reading the post of someone saying that they should have savings to start up a small business intrests me; how do you expect them to save from the little they pay them that is also tied down to loans which they have taken from the banks: its not easy to save when you dont have extra pecks that comes apart from your salary: Every employer never pays the employee his true value for the work done ( except government that dont match productivity with payment); Its always easier to give advice when the issue does not concern us in person: May God help those that lost their jobs to get back on their feet, a lot of people depends on their megre salary:

There is this guy in my area who was among the oceanic bank staff who lost their job 2 years ago. Till today the guy is still jobless. Things are so tough for him dat he goes about working in construction sites just to feed his family of 2 kids and a wife. To tell u guys the truth, I have lost faith in this goddamn country.

All advices given to the affected Fidelity staff so far were ok and good, but theoretically. What operates pratically is that most of us in paid employment never had enough savings from our meagre salary to put something aside externally to fall back on in case of emergency situation like this.
I could recollect when i was sacked form my last employment in 2007 and thought the world was going to end because the little business i had then could not put 3-square meal on my table as expected. But after then, i got a contract employment for 18 months in 2009 and i was able to save enough money (having learn form my first mistake)to start a distributor business. With prayer and hard work, the biz has grown to an extent that banks are now running after me to open an account with them. Some are even pursuing me with loan facility, but because of the loan condition and high interest rate, i turned them down because i don't want anything that will affect the biz at least for now.
I will want my affected brothers and sisters to learn from this, if they could get anything concrete from it.
However, for those that has small biz and may be interested, they may contact (BOI)Bank of Industry Ltd in their location for facility assistance, their interest is the lowest one can ever get in this country i.e 5% (Though being a govt. bank)They usually help enterpreneurs and small/medium scale enterprises, though it is slow as i have been on my own since Sept 2011 and just now getting to disbursement stage.

When you take a Bank's offer of employment, always save as if you will be asked to leave the following day. It will save you some headache. Best of luck to those affected

Very sad,I urge everyone reading this to get a copy of "the 50th law",I had a similar experience,It was very tough for me and somehow I came acros "The 50th law" and am grateful it changed my life, the truth is no job lasts forever, and while you have one,you must carve a corner for yourself and create little empires, you must delay gratification on the short term to enjoy life on the long term, while a job is at hand, you must work hard to up your game and keep changing yourstyle to meet the demands of your environment.Today,my life has changed for good, thanks to the idea of realism and the 50th law....Above all, thanks to God almighty for the wisdom to understand!

It is quite painful to go through this bad experience but i know God will surely make a way for you all. Based on my previous experience, i will urge you all to put your minds at rest. Here is my advice to you:
(1). Be careful how you spend the token given to you by the so-called bank. Also, try to cut down all your expenses.
(2). Dont rush into any business/investment without thinking through and making your own findings.

(3) You might need to upgrade yourself by taking relevant courses & certifications to increase your employability.
I wish you the best.

Ok. I was also affected 2 years ago but unlike your friend, I have grown to become one of the Top 10 customers of my former branch. I didnt take another job but went into business. Today all my former ogas who are still in service call me to "show them the way". So pls dont discourage pple with negative stories. When things like this happen to you, dont panic, Look at your strengths and weaknesses, seek more knowledge about various businesses you may try, strategise..If you dont have enough cash, you may call in some other sacked colleague of yours, discuss, see the possibility of putting together resources then move forward. I pray the stories of the sacked Fidelity guys will end up like mine. Stay positive, guys. Best of luck

please, before I forget..I beg you all, do not say because you have been bankers you must remain in white collar jobs or do white collar businesses like some rubbish consultancy nonsense that will impoverish you in a few months. In Nigeria, what sells is consumables..things that people CANNOT do without. Take a look at some illiterate businessmen around you..Artisans, traders, farmers..see the one whose business appeal to you based on how succesful he is apart from other factors..go into it, then brand yours in a good way..Add your bank knowledge and education to give it class..do correct marketing like you were busy doing for fidelity bank and I tell u, its only one way your business will go...UP! For example..what stops an ex banker from setting up a classy buka in a densely populated area? bring in local women who hv the experience of buka cooking. ensure dat unlike d local bukas around, yours is extremely neat while being price-competitive...Whats stops an ex banker from setting up a mechanic workshop? bring in very good mechanics..put them on salary + commision. buy diagnostic equipment, set up an oven for spraying, get wheel balancing and alignment equip..give d place a Behind name..when a car comes, it must be registered in some fancy office (packaging Noni) market your banker friends to start bringing their cars, ensure your mechanics are professional in their interactns with customers..ensure customers are never disapointed..give "money back if youre not satisfied options"......so many things you can do brothers and sisters..pls dont look for another job. Think deep...YES YOU CAN!!

aasog1: Fidelity Bank? Is that a financial institution or a modern Esusu and Loan Shark Office in disguise?
I dont even know how theyve lasted this long with little or no-publicity. To me, they are another Diamond Bank.
Its funny how some businesses operate. They are not doing fine, and they arent making any concerted effort to change. Anyways, SLS and AMCON will keep pumping tax payers funds into them as long as they get to keep some ownership percentage. Talk of a typical Nigerian Bank.

It is funny how people open their mouth to talk about things they have little or no knowledge about. The fact that a bank does little or nothing about publicity doesn't mean they aren't well. Look @ bankphp, oceanic n intercontinental bank with all their "publicity". Didn't they still go down? IMO, the more the noise a bank makes, the more the probability of them having problems.

favinvest: Am not surprise because if u go to even their head office dey dont look busy... Anoda bank dat may likely follow same route its unity bank and diamond bank (I maybe wrong o..).

because dey don't look agressive in mkting.

And also beware of banks dat do strange promos...

100 persons will win 1million. Jst open an acct with 10,000 naira only.

As per d guys sack. Dey sacked u because u re nt using ur head and mind to think; u were b controlled by ur belly. Now u can use ur mind and wrt time u will b d one employing and sacking people(when dey misbehave sha)

So, because a bank doesn't do aggressive marketing, they are likely to go down? I would like to believe that you are an educated fellow. Haven't u ever heard of the term 'conservative banking'? I would rather a bank that sends me intelligent people who know what they are about than the ones that send me ladies who are ready to sell me their bodies other than the product.

Before u go around criticizing and running down other banks based on Ur baseless opinions and thoughts, think twice inother not to cause an uproar. Sanusi is enough trouble already. My 2 cent.

fittty: Mtschewww abeg!!! When you were given the job it clearly stated "CONTRACT" and now u expect to stay there for ever. Abeg.

Well, i pray you or some one u depend on for finance gets sacked soon. So that you know that when people are down. no point kicking them on the head.
