If you stay in Enugu and really want to learn to program, We can get together and learn? I like when am in a group of serious minded people. Note: if you are not serious about programming .. don't bother meeting up with me.

As I have seen, this is the best way to learn, staying in a group, solving problems and asking questions.

You must be trying to learn python ( must ) or java.

For everyone that wants to get into the Network Security part of coding I recommend this site, It's really good.
It has everything you should know about from "Beginners networking" to "Advanced Penetration Testing". Reverse Engineering of Malware, Web App Pen-testing, Python coding for scripts and exploits, and everything else for both Defensive Security but has a lot of focus on the Offensive part.

So for everyone that wants to go for the Certified Ethical Hacker Certification and the Certs above that, check it out! smiley

It's the only good network security learning platform that I have found that covers EVERYTHING and IS FREE. And new courses are added all the time.

Happy (ETHICAL) Hacking! wink

PS: If anyone knows about other sites with this theme, please let me know about them smiley thanks!

EDIT: wow, I didn't think that so many people didn't know about the site XD but to be fair it took me quite a while to discover it too.

If you have the time and kindness to PM me your email address(my email geek_100@outlook.com), or write it in the comments if you don't care a lot about that email address, I will send you an invite to the site from my cybrary account!

I don't know why people keep asking "I want to learn a programming language which one should I learn". What do you want to do:
1. Game development- you need to learn c++, c# and game engine such as unity3d
2. Desktop app- java, c, c++, c# and python. These are the best
3. Web development- Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, bootstrap. Back end: node.js, Python or java
4. Mobile development- just go for java.
So choose what you want to do out of these 4 and sign up for coursera.org or edx.org. I hope this helps.

Which of them is hottest in demand??

Hey Nairalander, here's what u should do!
Depending on what it is you want to make or do, your choice might already be made up for you. To build a website or webapp, for example, you should learn HTML and CSS, along with JavaScript and perhaps PHP for interactivity. If your focus is mostly/only on building a mobile app, then you can dive right into learning Objective-C for iOS apps or how to program with Java for Android (and other things).If you're looking to go beyond one specific project or specialty, though, or want to learn a bunch of languages, it's best to start with learning the basic concepts of programming and how to "think like a coder." That way, no matter what your first programming language, you can apply those skills towards learning a new one (maybe in as little as 21 minutes).
Most of the "mainstream" programming languages—such as C, Java, C#, Perl, Ruby, and Python—can do the same—or nearly the same—tasks as the others. Java, for example, works cross-platform and is used for web apps and applets, but Ruby also can do large web apps and Python apps similarly run on Linux and Windows. Note that many languages are modeled after each other, the syntax or structure of working on them is often nearly identical, so learning one often helps with learning the others. For example, to print "Hello World," Java and C# are syntactically similar just as Perl and Python.
There are basically 3 routes: build mobile apps/games or website or Quantitative Modeling/statistics/general algorithm. Where do you belong? Once u re done with that read up how programmers think( I have a couple of videos and study guide on this). Then start with Python! However If u are totally into building apps only (100%). Then Java will be a good start
Hey! Don't worry about C++, most of the code structure for Java suits C++, so increasing your knowledge Bank will be less of a challenge. Please do not start with C++.

Hi all,

I think this information can be useful for you. If you plan to get your website, here is one good free web hosting provider to choose - 000webhost.com

They provide hosting absolutely free, there is no catch. You get 1500 MB of disk space and 100 GB bandwidth. They also have cPanel control panel which is amazing and easy to use website builder. Moreover, there is no any kind of advertising on your pages.

You can register here: https://www.000webhost.com/943036.html

One great question bordering me (which may also be bordering others) is this;

In Nigerian today, we see how bloggers are been more celebrated than programmers, most people pursue both blogging and programming and end up not been good at any. So the question is this;

Programming vs Blogging which is better (more profitable) to learn and focus more on this 2017?
