Do I need to visit anywhere to see the same roads in this thread that cost the people of Akwa N1.4 trillion and a phoney scam called e library?

Please shut up.

If you are sincere, you should be able to show us what N1.4 trillion was spent on apart from the roads in one single town that I can count on my fingers.

What has LAGOS done with its resources? Apart from criminal activities of Thief Tinubu and his student Fashola.
AkwaIbom is way better than that slum called Lagos.

KnowAll: I think Fashola and Akpabio are birds of the same feather operating in different terraine. Whilst Fashola is wise enough to heed to his master's advise, obviously he has been well tutored by 'Mafiosio boss Tinunbu' on the virtues of society paying back for every little help and improvement, Akpabio whose constituent are dirt poor, cannot dear charge his 'Keke Nepap people' otherwise he would be castigated and villified.

Are you trying to say there are no Keke napeps in lagos undecided . . . . .

They are there but not visible or at your face. U see them parked at Iyana Ipaja they would run u into Agege Township, or in Ajegunle and so many other slums of Lagos. You won't see them competing with U on Ikorodu Road, Third mani-land bridge or in and other major arteries of Lagos.

The keke you see in Akwa Ibom do not also run major routes . .they operate within the city centers just like we have in lagos e.g the renowned Yaba area around Tejousho market, from Obalende to parts of Ikoyi, From Ikeja to ojota . . .those are major centers with keke Napep running in their hordes

Your seeing keke on those wonderful roads and streets in Akwa Ibom doesn't mean they are dirt poor . .It is just a means of transportation in inter city routes just like Lagos . . . .

This thread has turned into a rivalry which I believe is good as it will make the Governors involved work harder if it were so in reality. Anyone saying Akpabio has not done a lot is only lying to himself but the issue here is that the work so far is in no way commensurate with the huge amount spent. 2ndly it is wrong to view him as a messiah because nobody can have access to such huge fund and won't do anything at all. Imagine if he was receiving only 2.6billion like most other States, will he be able to engage in any capital project?

Mr man why are still spining crap? I also ask you what would your fashola and amaechi have done if they received the same amount. Fasola today is benefitting from the fact that lagos was former capital of Nigeria. Fashola should be very grateful to the FG for helping him setup lagos with oil money. If not ekiti for better pass am. Amaechi today also benefited from the fact that the federal govt had invested a lot of infrastructure the there viz a refinery, a petrochemical plant, two sea ports, port harcourt and onne, a fertilezer plant, two airports-one international and one millitary. Can you name the infrastructure Nigeria I mean FG built in akwa ibom apart from ALSCON? Here now comes a man who is building akwa ibom infrastructure from scratch with state funds-an airport, seaport, motorable expressways, international standard hotels, schools, hospitals, technology, stadia, housing etc and you dare open you stinking mouth to ask what he could have done with 2.6 million after your paymasters have ridden on the sweat of all Nigerians and come out here to boast of mediocrity. Its not about the money but its about trying to solve your peoples peculiar problem, Lagos problem is how to manage the available infrastrature to cope with the already existing large population it has as a result of it being a former capital of nigera. Akwa ibom problem on otherhand was a total ABSENCE of infratructure. So you see trying to prove the point that lagos is more developed than akwa ibom is an excercise in futility. The crux of the matter is who is doing a better job in solving his peoples problem. I think Akpabio is doing a damn good job.
By the way with 2.6.billion a lot can be done.Donald Duke did it in cross river and heavens did not fall so its no excuse. Some governors today are also doing it today so if your governor if lazy, 2015 dey vote him out.

You are wrong especially with this shallow comment. Fashola is benefiting from his own leadership and administrative qualities and also the talents he hired to run Lagos state. Former federal capital is just a designation and it doesn't run anything, human ideas, vision and creativity does.

What is federal government's business in Lagos state apart from the bridges and roads that they are still too incompetent to maintain hence owing Lagos state government 50 billion in maintenance cost.

Saying there is no federal presence in Akwa shows that you don't know anything about the very Akwa you are talking about.
Akwa has a total of 5OOkm roads in Akwa alone.

Akwa is the beneficiary of the ongoing N2.91 Billion Nkari Dam

Federal government spent N1.13bn on rural electrification in Akwa

IBAKA seaport has federal inclusion

The federal government is building maintaining the hanger at Akwa's airport

And please keep quiet about schools and hospitals that doesn't exist. Flyovers are not expressways, there is nothing fist class about Tropicana. it is a scam that's been under construction forever.
Re: Pictures Of Developments in Akwa Ibom State (uncommon Transformation) by BabaTony: 7:59am On Jan 07, 2013
Mr Eko there is no need to answer you because what you just typed here shows how Ignorant your about the affairs of Akwa Abasi Ibom State. I am talking about real completed federal projects with pictures to back up and not some infinite project in some ministers file in abuja. I challenge you mr eko and your paymaster to commence the construction of the fourth mainland bridge if you people have the balls to do so. Please kindly inform nigerians the additional flyover lagos state government constructed to ease traffic in lagos. Lagos should be very grateful to the FG for building the immense infrastructure in Lagos. Eko bridge, carter bridge, third mainland bridge all constructed by IBB. The lekki ikoyi bridge is being sponsored by lagosians through a 500naira tolling structure. Eko Ile hide ur ugly face in shame. I am not going to include the wonderful skyscrappers at marina that served as former FG agency headquarters and bank headquarters. The embassies that served nigerians where priviledged to be dotted around ikoyi and VI where also built by LASG. All this Infrastructure came with human beings who lived, bought land, built bussiness, homes etc that made lagos what it is. Abi na airport, two seaports, both serving as headquaters, abeg I dont need to continue. Shame on you eko ile, you cannot deceive nigerians with ur propaganda machinery. We all know how lagos came to be so you don't need to tell us how developed lagos is. Its by the sweat and toil of all Nigerians not by some mafia run govt headed by Tinubu.

@bolded. That's the only meaningful thing you wrote. So you will agree with me that a lot more could have been done if the money is being managed properly. Akwa-Ibom could have a foreign reserve larger than that of several countries.

If you reverse to the Nigeria of 1970s we had Julius Berger construct several roads and bridges. Where are they now? All these our highways which have turned death traps were the handiwork of over-inflated Julius Berger road contracts. One thing I'm happy Akpabio has not delved into is the "carnival craze".
Re: Pictures Of Developments in Akwa Ibom State (uncommon Transformation) by aribisala0(m): 9:39am On Jan 07, 2013
No road will last for ever if is not looked after.
They are supposed to be resurfaced and have regular repairs. This is not cheap but NEVER happens in our country
In the south we have heavy rainfall and the best road for our environment is concrete. We get what we pay for and should not blame Julius Berger unfairly

The fact that a road fails can occur for a dozen reasons. To say it is Julius Berger's fault is irrational.
There is NO EVIDENCE Julius Berger built All theroads in Nigeria that are failing; that is a BEER PARLOUR assertion without evidence.
There are several construction companies that were active in Nigeria in the 70s and 80s;so called CCs(construction companies)
OCC,LCC,RCC,MCC etc
Costain,Strabag, and many others have won road contracts in Nigeria.Let us not make claims that CANNOT BE SUBSTANTIATED

A tour of Gov't House Uyo, and a display of models of some on-going projects.

By the time he's finished with that state, it should be the top destination for investors in Nigeria. He has my type of 'eye for detail' and 'good finishing'.

The Akwa Ibom Governor seems to have done well in infrastructural works but infrastructure alone does not Develop a state of that Size and endowment. The Governor needs to think Economic Development , this he can do by Assembling an Economic Team which will be made up of highly skilled economist home and Abroad and possibly some Consultants like the former CBN governor .

The Akwa Ibom Government can pursue a mercantilism economic policy that will ensure that the Crude Deposits onshore and on shore is refined before being exported or redistributed within Nigeria.

Also with Lagos becoming increasingly very Difficult for Eastern Business men and women , the Governor's Economic Team can reach out to Top Eastern Business men like Innoson , Cosharis on how they can leverage on the proximity of the Ibaka Sea port to improve the economy of scale of their business . An import of CKD for Innosson , Ibeto from Ibaka will cost far less to transport to Nnewi and Enugu and will take 1/3 the time it takes to transport from Lagos coupled with the fact that Uyo to ABA highway is now a 6 lane highway. so why import from Lagos what you can cheaply and safely do from Ibaka without the unnecessary dsitaction and harassment of Area Boys through extortion and Lagos Government officials using annual registration fees and arbitrary taxes

The displacement and frustration of Ladipo Business men can be exploited to build another Auto Spare parts Hub some where near Ibaka that will cater for the shipment to East African countries, Eastern Nigeria and Northern Nigeria while Igbos scale down their Businesses in Lagos .

This gradual transformation will pull Cash flow and human resources , banks , insurance and other Financial houses and encourage the Development of the Local Akwa Ibom economy leading to the emergence of enterprenuers among the indigenous people and more Revenue to the Akwa Ibom state for other projects.

That's what our leaders lack. I wish someone like you were the Governor of Akwa-ibom State. However in addition to what you wrote, I seem to disagree with import based economy. I prefer focus on agriculture and manufacturing.

^^^Consultancy is tailor made for a man like Soludo, and if he doesn't want to continue in politics i'm hoping he will take up or be offered such a role (to head the economic team and fashion out a ten year economic plan) in any of the emerging commercial/industrial states of Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa or Abia.

On the second bolded: I think Bayelsa has read your mind and is ahead on this with their planned deep sea port; they have their eyes on south eastern entrepreneurs and businesses in Abia and Anambra and plan to synergize with these states/groups for the effective utilization of the port when built.

We need to open up the east for business and the key thing is to create that buzz/enabling environment that will attract the investors and critical mass both at home and internationally.

Oh sorry Asha i didn't get to see your question until now Actually a Rail link and an express way are in the offing, i don't know why the FG is delaying with the Rail way line but the Governor has gone ahead to consider Dualising the Expressway.

A Rail Link Running from Bakassi down to Calabar to Uyo and connecting the Sea port to Ikot Ekpene down to Aba from Aba to Owerri then to Onitsha will be an Economic Game Changer not only will such a vital rail link be self sustaining the adjoining Cities would experience a rapi socio economic tun around . Depending on the Federal Ministry of transport for these would be an Economic Suicide because of sabotage. Like the above poster who believes and wants the Niger Deltans to remain Land of Blind People.

See the below links for more info

President Jonathan today gives the go ahead for Akwa Ibom State govt to construct dual carriage way from Uyo to Aba in Abia State and from Uyo to Calabar in cross river state. This implies we are expecting the see the best Inter state highway in Nigeria; a good one. hope moro Aks will not be told to construct from Guzau, Zamfara Sokoto, sokoto? pls what will the gov of abia and crs be doing with their money? invest in private biz or embez to dubai.

http://first-thoughts.org/on/Akwa+Ibom/Cross+River+State/

Akpabio hinted that the state government was setting up the Ibaka Industrial City with a deep seaport, assuring that the state government was negotiating with the Federal Government in a bid to award contract for
the construction of rail lines from Ibaka Seaport to Aba and Port Harcourt.
http://akwaibomnow.com/?p=153

The railway extension will run from Aba through Uyo into the new international airport and terminates in the coast at Ibaka Port Complex. This would cater for the Oron-Aba and will serve Nigeria better with the rail to avoid the pot holes on highways which destroy goods worth billions yearly across the nation. The exporters and importers in Nigeria have been going through hell in the transportation of their goods from international community into Nigeria because of lack of proper Deep Sea Port for their vessels to berth.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NaijaExcel/message/16963

Akwa Ibom Railway Extension
Part of the Coastal Zone Socio-economic Development Council recently launched by President Olusegun Obasanjo, with Chief A. K. Horsfall as Chairman ought to include railway extension into the Niger Delta. 1000km railway line which the Indians are to construct from PortThe 1,000km railway line which the Indians are to construct from Port Harcourt to Kano in exchange for oil and gas production in the delta should be rendered more economic to stimulate industrial investments and services by extending it into Akwa Ibom State . To facilitate movement of goods the railway extension should run from Aba through Uyo into the new international airport and terminate in the coast at Ibaka Port Complex. This would cater for the Oron-Aba axis, a most congested human corridor with enormous traffic and industrial potentials, to be served by a seaport, an airport and a railway line.
