Oyo Is Difficult To Govern – Ajimobi by Olaedo1: 2:29am On Jan 08, 2013 |
Oyo is difficult to govern – Ajimobi On January 8, 2013 · In News 12:55 am By OLA AJAYI IBADAN — GOVERNOR Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State yesterday admitted that the state was a difficult one to govern. He said it is the state that harbours “largest party of lies” and a place where you help one person and the remaining nine are offended. He said this at the inter-religious prayer session held to usher in Year 2013 at the Governor’s Office Car Park, Secretariat, Ibadan. “It is difficult for someone to rule this state. It is in Oyo State that you have the largest party of lies. No matter how good you are, you will have enemies and friends”, the governor explained. He added that as nobody is perfect, his government has its own faults but all of them are done in good faith. The prayer which was well attended by politicians, civil servants, and many other notable people in the state also served as beacon of hope for workers as the governor said many times that it would be a “pay back year” for the workers. He commended them for absorbing all the challenges, pressures and “tsunami of change” that his administration introduced to make them better. Ajimobi said: “For you to have been able to withstand the pressure that we have brought to bear on you; for you to have survived our shocking treatment and the pyramid of checks and balances, rest assured that this year is your year of reward. “We have demanded a lot from you and you have given us; and for those of you who have survived the tsunami of change which was aimed at instilling discipline in the system and making the civil service service-oriented, you will be adequately compensated,” he promised. While giving glory to God for being with his administration, the civil servants and the entire people of the state, Governor Ajimobi said but for God, his efforts at transforming and repositioning the state would have been insignificant. The head of of the religious service, Alhaji Tajudeen Aremu had earlier in his welcome address urged civil servants to key into the blueprint of the government for the successful implementation of Ajimobi’s laudable programmes. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/01/oyo-is-difficult-to-govern-ajimobi/ |

This happens in any setting where there is some form of leadership. You can not please anyone sir; you just have to do your best in favor of the majority. Besides why would you help just one in ten persons? 3 Likes |

Oyo is a very special place. The only state in nigeria that has never been ruled twice by one governor. Anambra used to be second place on that list until peter obi broke the jinx. I wonder if he will get a second term. Very unlikely though if you check history for one man to hold Ibadan for two terms. Check from bola ige, olunloyo, ishola, Lam Adesina or Alao-Akala. All had one term. Part military intervention part electorate |
same thing Rochas said about Imo. I think Nigerians in general are difficult to govern
you cant compare any city in Nigeria to Oyo.....premier city and only city in. West Africa where an indigenous imperial crown still reigns. there is no other city or indigenous african seat of political power with such lasting history and longevity as Oyo. who is Imo? |

No state is easy to govern but I believe the governor has good intentions I'm sure Lagos is the most difficult state to govern and BRF has demonstrated uncommon statesmanship in steering the state Ajimobi can learn from him or consult the ACN manual which seems to be working for Ekiti,Osun and Ogun states 1 Like |

if oyo is difficult to govern, then resign, let those who knows how to govern do it. this is what happens when people with no knowledge of governance enter politics, honestly there are governors who would be better off selling electronics in alaba. |

The ACN goons and hypocrites stylishly side stepped this thread without any form of rebuke to their man . . . . . if this was about the FG . . .insults, rage, abuses and all manner of nonsense would have dragged this page to the 5th page by now . . . . If the State Governments with a fraction of the population to cater for have valid reasons to complain . . .how much more the FG who have over 160 million people to cater for, since the average Nigerian is fixated on them rather than equally holding their state governors and L.G.A reps to ransom . . . Consistency is needed at all times . . . . It is difficult for someone to rule this state. It is in Oyo State that you have the largest party of lies. No matter how good you are, you will have enemies and friends”, the governor explained. Mirror that statement to Represent Nigeria . . . .What amplitude of liars do they (FG) have to contend with . . . Ajimobi said: “For you to have been able to withstand the pressure that we have brought to bear on you; for you to have survived our shocking treatment and the pyramid of checks and balances, rest assured that this year is your year of reward. The FG said the same thing and everyone including the ACN party went agog . . .What manner of hypocrisy . . . . 8 Likes |

I remember reading an interview of Sen Ajimobi in d Nation newspapers in 2009. He hurled all sorts of insults on Akala's govt nd ended up calling him a failure dat knows next to nothing abt governance(calling Oyo d refuse headqtrs of d world). Now dat he is there, he is seeing things differently. Moral of ds story; ppl climb to power in Nigeria by criticising d govt vehemently, thereby making d populace overlook their shortcomings. Remember to ask d present govt 'career' arm chair critics how they intend to do things 'realisticALLY' different |

Ajimobi is gradually setting things straight in oyo though, with the massive clean up of the environment, but he's doing some things I don't understand like the dualization of jerico road, I think dts just wanton waste of resources, its really annoying to see ppl's property destroyed 4 no reason. |
