Okocha Slams Nfa, Wants Eagles’ Role by smile4kenn(m): 7:20am On Feb 27, 2008 |
England-based former international, Austin Okocha, has criticised the Nigeria Football Association for the Super Eagles‘ woeful performance at the Ghana 2008 Nations Cup finals. Okocha, who was a prominent member of the team that won the Tunisia‘94 Nations Cup for the country, told AFP on Tuesday that he was willing to help rebuild the Eagles if called upon, although he was not specific about the role he hoped to play. The Hull City midfielder, who called it quits with the national team after the Egypt 2006 Nations Cup finals, also pole axed the NFA for engaging coach Berti Vogts for the team, insisting that the German was the wrong choice. Okocha said, ”I wasn‘t surprised at our performance (at Ghana 2008) because we struggled from the group stage and it was really a miracle that we got through. But then we exposed ourselves after Ghana went a man down, that was when the manager‘s qualities should have shone, but they didn‘t and to me that was our downfall.” http://www.punchontheweb.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art20080227322898 What Y'all think? |
