Obasanjo Acolytes Plan Two-day Birthday Celebration - Sahara Reporters by Maxymilliano(m): 1:45am On Jan 14, 2013 |
By SaharaReporters, New York Acolytes of former Nigeria President, Olusegun Obasanjo, plan a two-day long birthday celebration for him despite not knowing his real date of birth. The group will hold a series of events on January 18 and 19, at his presidential library in Abeokuta in Ogun State. As part of the event, former Ghana president John Kuffour will deliver a public lecture entitled,"Obasanjo in the eyes of history."the former president is also working hard to launch another international foundation to rival that of former US president Bill Clinton to revamp his badly battered international reputation after he failed in a bid to stand for third term in office in 2006. President Goodluck Jonathan is recorded on the invitation card as the"guest of honor"in an event that is being viewed as a political gathering of Obasanjo loyalists, but sources close to Obasanjo said Jonathan has not responded to the invitation. Vice President Namadi Sambo has indicated he will attend. Bankrolling the event include some state governors, such as Delta State governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, Akwa Ibom governor, Godswill Akpabio, Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, and several others. The former Nigerian leader had recently engaged in public spat against Mr. Jonathan over his plans to run for office again, publicly criticizing him for poor governance and incompetence. The celebrations also come at a time Obasanjo’s reputation has taken considerable hammering. Following Ghana’s recent presidential election, he was roundly criticized and disowned by the Economic Commission of West African States (ECOWAS), for which he had served as head of an election observer mission, for his anti-democracy activities. http://saharareporters.com/news-page/obasanjo-acolytes-plan-two-day-birthday-celebration

By SaharaReporters, New YorkLol. I doubt the man himself knows how old he is. His real age can't be less than 80 or more. He's probably as old as Mugabe.
With their personal money or with state funds? Why is Obasanjo comfortable with this arrangement - in spite of his [evidently hypocritical] anti-corruption pretensions? 2 Likes |

...and it made front page? What an issue. By the way, is the foundation a bad idea as "Sahara Gossip" is trying to portray it? For once, can't that clown ruler of Sahara see anything nice in Nigeria? He stole money, you complain, he is using it for good, you complain, what if he choose not to use it? You would still complain. Must people/everybody always please you? |

Check the top headlines from January 1, 2013, they are all political. Nothing about governance and development. Nothing much can be expected from GEJ's government till its tenure expires. |

Maxymilliano: Impressive loyalists for OBJ here coupled with the ones not yet mentioned that are in the north and PDP SW who still adores him. It should interest us all to see that these govs are 2nd terms govs. And yet someone will come online and declare that OBJ is no match for the retardeen. I envisage a calamity against the retardeen during the killer primaries if he doesnt "dobale" for OBJ let someone remind him that SE votes alone isnt sufficient for him to cling the ticket. 1 Like |

Assuming Sahara is telling the truth,I don't understand why these governors will spend official money to bankroll a birthday esp Gov.Uduaghan who has done practically nothing in his state |
