Charles Shaw: I do NOT get ur point.
Be explicit wit ur points nd back it up to convince her.

See Charles, the only problem I've with this girl is misuse of the word 'representative'. She also said in her subsequent post that Anyim exhibit intelligence he acquired in school in whatever he's doing. Anyim has been involved in active politic since 80's,definitely he must have acquired a lot of experience by practically encounter with the situations and not sorely by the knowledge he gained from your school.

Right ,in what way Charles? The word 'representative' have a strong meaning in a democratic society and shouldn't be use wrongly in place of Alumnus. Sorry,I don't think he represent the interest of her school in Abuja, and I'm sure GEJ didn't consult any school authority or students before he was made SGF.
1st of all comments, Not mine.
I concur with u nd i concur with her.
'Representative' is simply a Characteristic of Govt by Representation in wich citizens exercise power tru ELECTED OFFICERS and REPRESENTATIVES.
Take note at the two capital words.
The man cud be representing her state in Abuja wich falls into d latter REPRESENTATIVE.
Anyim is an appointed Official, NOT ELECTED nd is Representing Ebonyi state at d Federal Level.
If she's frm Ebonyi, then Anyim is sure her Representative too.
On a second note,
Abrahalm Lincoln defined REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNMENT as goverment of d people, by d people nd for d people.

Great reply but not good enough to diversify the core meaning of 'representative'. He might seems to be a representative of particular ethnic group under the principle of Federal Character/representative Bureaucracy, but practically he didn't not pursues or promote the interest of any groups. He's not accountable to anyone but his boss(president),he owe anybody notting but his boss,he's not an elected officer. These among many other things make him to be nautral and cease to be a representative.

This comment above reminds me of those days in class when we will be waiting for our lectures. Before the lecturers arrive you will see great minds (Political Scientists) engaging themselves in intellectual discussion. Hmnn the seat is always very hot then, we use to be very controversial i can still remember the Ghaddafi of Libya saga. I would love to join this discussion by the way lets see how it goes.

Yes, university education plays a vital role, but remember, experience is the best teacher. A good/brilliant politician is better than a professor or PHD holder without practical experience.

My answers in NO way discredited the true meaning of 'Representative'.
If no appointment was made in OndoState for instance, you'd shout of Marginalisation.
But wen 1 is made, u'd sure feel contented u hav a Representative at d FedLevel.
This is where the Social Contract cømes in b/c the state came into being as a result of an agreement.
B4 Jonathan got elected, an agreement must hav been reachd dat each state must be REPRESENTED/REPRESENTATIVE.

Exactly and i can cite examples to buttress your point. For instance, Obasanjo had no University education when he was first elected but Nigerians felt his impact when he was in power. Mind you he later went to the National Open University of Nigeria for his degree. Ok compared to Goodluck Jonathan who holds a PHD but lacks meaningful ideas and experience. Though he is also a good leader but the experience is not just there and he hardly think straight at times. We all know the ministers tell/or advice him on what to do in most cases. Note: As the president of this country under 2years we know he has achieved some things but an experienced politician would have done more...

We r stil on the same Page.
A good Politician undergoes Three metamorphosis known as
1: POLITICAL EDUCATION- This is acquired in the University.
2: POLITICAL SOCIALISATION- when u begin to attend political rally, party meetings etc
3: POLITICAL PARTICIPATION- When u must v undergone the previous two, u nw participate FULLY in political activity therby becomin a POLITICAL GLADIATOR.
Anyim went tru these 3 stages one by one b4 he became wat he is today.

I disagree with your point no. 1. It is only in some cases you find political education being acquired in the university and not in all cases. Charles do you know that some of our great leaders in the Military era had no University education yet they were responsible for the smooth affairs of this Nation?

There are born leader and there are made leader. Born leader carries high level of charisma and such, works towards obtaining high level of welfarism for the masses.
