Payne leex: What is Political Education? ANSWER: Political Education is d study of a country's political culture. It refers to ALL the important ways in wich a person is SUBJECTIVELY ORIENTED towards the ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS in his political system. Payne_leex: What happens to political discuss in d family, media, peers, debates, seminars, sympossium nd even forums like this? ANSWER: Your questions falls under Political Socialisation nd can NOT be equated to PoliticalEducation. PoliticalSocialisation is a process by wich d political culture of a given political system is transmitted frm one generation 2 anoda via media, peers, debates, includin forums like NL. There's a very fine Line btwn PoliticalEducation nd PoliticalSocialisation. I still maintain that PoliticalEducation can ONLY be acquired in the University/Institutions. 3 Likes |

@Charles Shaw i would have loved to buttress some of your points but if we continue, this debate wont end and it will look boring to some "Layman" in the field. I hope to see you someday so that we can argue further. By the way are you on Linkedin? If you are, try adding these two groups (International Association of Political Science Graduates, American Political Science Association) Its really hot in there. Ciao ![]() |

Charles Shaw: Payne leex: What is Political Education? It's obvious that you don't know what you're saying. What's the different between political education and pol socialiZation? Definition of pol socialization from Yahoo answer; Pol socialization is a lifelong process by which people form their ideas about politic and acquire pol values. The family, educational system, peer groups and mass media all play a role. Now tell me the difference? It was clearly written at where you stoled your own definition but you cut it off to justified your misleading opinion. 1 Like |

Well said @Charles but I beg to disagree. You conceptualize political education as d study of a country's POLITICAL CULTURE. If my knowledge of culture is nt outdated, I think it's referred to as the total way of life of people which spans across beliefs, norms, ideas, thoughts, myths( d list is endless). Limiting political education which is an aspect of our culture to scholastic terrain is tantamount to saying that our beliefs, values, wise-sayings etal. Can only be attained in d university/colleges. Albeit u classify political discussion in d family, media, peers etc under political socialization. But then, I can also vividly assert that one of d major benefits of socialization is to create awareness, education, as well as enlightenment abt events/issues that we have little or no knowledge about. Maybe you are even oblivious of d fact that this forum as an aspect of socialization has been able to enrich people with zero political awareness abt the sine- qua- non of political practice in Nigeria. Wht then are we fusing abt? Maybe a little bit of digression into d concept of education will present a lucid picture of dis discourse! I reiterate, EDUCATION IS BEYOND LITERACY! 3 Likes |

You see @Charles, knowledge acquisition to me is an endless process. Even tho I'm nt a political science graduate, you do nt expect me to accept ur views dogmatically. I wasn't trained that way. You r always thinking ur views are flawless and it is not. No one can boss knowledge. Even professors have their works criticized. To develop intellectually u need to embrace criticisms. Adopting a protective methods to ur opinions will only make u a motionless intellectual. No doubt u've got it all bt then, learn to respect people's view. Knowledge is not one-directional activity. 1 Like |
