It's only a biased judge that will
say GEJ's govt hasn't shown some
level of commitments to resolving
the ongoing ASUU strike:
1. ASUU came up with ambiguous
N92 billion unpaid allowance. Govt
released N60 billion and asked
them to go and work out who
and who will be left unpaid. This
is because the N92 billion ASUU
came up with was rough
estimate.
2. As at September, govt was
ready to release N100 billion for
infrastructures in the various
federal universities within four
months.
3. In addition to number two
above, govt recently promised to
disburse N200 billion yearly till
five years runs out, making it a
total of N1 trillion.
4. After all the above
commitments proved abortive,
President Jonathan cancelled all
his engagements and hosted
ASUU officials for 13 hours(first time ever). After
which, agreement was reached
that ASUU should go back and call
off the strike.
5. After the meeting, it took ASUU
one week to converge, during
which more than 70% of the
striking universities voted the
strike should be called off, yet
ASUU refused to shift ground but
rather came up with fresh
demands.
As I write now, federal govt has
opened an account with CBN for
ASUU and deposited N200 billion
in it for infrastructural
developments in universities. So
what next for ASUU?
Having realised that ASUU has lost
public sympathy and currently
represents deceit, schools like
UNN, ESUT, FUTO, UNIPORT,
UNICAL, EBSU,UNIBEN etc have pulled out
of the strike and ordered their
students to return to school.

...We are still waiting the day ASUU
will come out plain and tell us they
have merged with APC....LOL!
