I pray they shouldn't be any war! But what is happening in the creeks of the Niger Delta and the Ibo land should be curtailed, if not...I rest my case!

obi4eze: There'll be no civil war in Nigeria. There are genuine Christians that pray for this country night and day.
You guys and your religious reasoning towards everything. Prayer? I will assume there were no genuine Christians in 1967? Or the Christian prayers were on strike on your god then?
Nations are doing practical things to change things, you religious zealots are busy praying to some unknown gods.
Then the same old OBJ and his self importance and obsession at display, after warning about war, then he threw a tiff about his name not been in the program, throwing his toys out of his pram. What an egotistical clown of a man. grin grin grin

Hardfact: By the way, the way these top people, esp Baba Obj of recent, keep directly/indirectly refering to Nigeria breaking up, (dis)unity, another civil war and so on could it be in anyway indicative of anything fishy which they could be aware of in their circles?

This is what is happening, he is seeing everything going on more than any of us take him serious if I was you. The north want power by all means necessary, Jeg don't want to leave who would after all he has every right to that position just like any other person. However, prepare for worst hope for the best. But be prepared I would say God wants to move.

True. But sadly enough the vast majority of Nigerians are anything but enlightened enough to improve their lot. They'd rather engage in tribal sentiments like here on NL, and get busy chasing crumbs fallen from the table than strive to awaken their leaders. Any surprise even the nonperforming leaders are constantly being showered with praises and encouraged to keep up their 'good work'. . .

Truckpusher: if you know how much these polithiefcians plans to loot in the coming yrs then you wouldn't be talking abt war....nobody is going to war as long as the oil keeps flowing from the creeks and hinterland of the Niger Delta.
If you know how much investment they've allocated to themselves through privatization you won't talk abt war.
If you know how some people owned oil wells that run into billions of dollars you won't talk abt war

if you know how hard it is for them to stash all their loots abroad and feel comfortable you won't talk abt war.

Finally if you know how we the ordinary are polarized on region, religion and ethnicity then you will never talk abt war and if I may ask who is going to fight who?....will the corrupt elites in our various societies fight themselves when they can conveniently loot and share amongst themselves? When they can conveniently beat up the drums of sentiment and we will fall for it...my brother forget abt war it's a propaganda by the criminal elites to keep us constantly on our toes so that we can never demand for accountability from them.

So sad but very true, instead of everyone coming together to fight the enemies (cos someone that could steal all that belongs to the nation, is a great enemy), they will be fighting one another as Yoruba again Igbo or insulting the northerners, i wish and hope that one day, there will be unity to fight the just cause and we could liberate the nation out of the hands of the enemies

If it is only prayers we think Nigeria needs, we should think again... We should not becloud our reasoning with religious mindset alone... As a matter of fact, religion and politics work hand-in-hand in this nation. If we check properly, we'll find religion in the belly of politics... One thing we should also know is that we, Nigerians should not die in silence and as cowards. We should fight a just course and project to the future.

Hardfact: … when former President Obasanjo shunned the request by governor Amosun to lay a wreath.
When Obasanjo’s name was mentioned as part of the dignitaries to lay the wreath, the former President declined despite pleas by thegovernor.
The programme was put on hold as many dignitaries including the Deputy governor, Segun Adesegun, the Iyalode of Egbaland, Alaba Lawson, pleaded with him to reconsider his stance.
Vanguard gathered that Obasanjo’s anger was because his name was not in the brochure as partof those that would lay the wreath.

some of this governor can be insane sometimes why should you ever forget to include the name of the last man standing and still want him to lay a wreath, OBJ is very intelligent i love him for refusing such guesture, next time you learn to give honour to who deserved it. He easy to be retired general?

Hardfact: …As Uduaghan promises job opportunities to ex-servicemen
FORMER President, Olusegun Obasanjo, Tuesday, cautioned Nigerian leaders against acts that could lead to anothercivil war , even as he shunned the request by Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, to lay a wreath at the Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Abeokuta.
Obasanjo who spoke on the occasion for fallen heroes at Arcade ground in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State, said Nigerians should learn from history. He urged government at all levels to remember the families of the slain soldiers.
Lamenting the loss of many security personnel during civil and international wars, he said Nigerian leaders should ensure that what led to the previous wars did not reccur.
According to Obasanjo, “war is not a picnic. When you engage in wars, lives are bound to be lost. That is why, as much as possible, wars should be avoided. For us in Nigeria, even when we were fighting against the colonial power, we lost Nigerians in Burma, in East Africa. But since the days of the constabulary, because that is where the Nigerian Army started from, Nigerian security forces have been losing lives either in support of civil authority or in fighting local wars.
Constant reminders
”The aim of this celebration is to constantly remember the sacrifice that the fallen heroes have made. It is also to constantly remind usthat they left familiesbehind who need to be catered for”
Meanwhile, there wasa mild drama at the armed forces Remembrance Day ceremony when former President Obasanjo shunned the request by governor Amosun to lay a wreath.

Nigeria is in a perpetual war zone, just that it is not on a full blown scale. Corruption, no light, bad roads, MEND, Boko haram, OPC, Egbesu boys, mention all militant groups. The uncontrolled killing by the police and army. Especially, when armed force men realised that you are IBO man, the next thing is to kill.

So what is OBJ talking about civil war. All these politicians they want to sit down and enjoy all their loots.

Re: Obasanjo Warns Against Another Civil War! by iconaus: 11:35pm On Jan 16, 2013
Obj de talk rubbish . What led to civil is here with us . The killing in the north has been there and it continues only that the bitter experience of the war is checkmating the the break out of war . The killing appears to be one sided that why Obj has not realised that the cause of the last civil has been there even during his administration
Re: Obasanjo Warns Against Another Civil War! by hardbody: 7:51am On Jan 17, 2013
There will be no war in Nigeria, ever again. The reason is simple. Those causing us all these troubles are the political elites and in the event anything starts happening, those same people will be the first to jet out so who will be fighting whom? The average Nigerian, forget about the bigots in this forum, has since realized that our problems are being caused and orchestrated by our leaders and fighting against ourselves will never solve the problem of self inflicted poverty by a nation too rich not to be poor. OBJ and his type are fanning embers of war, testing the waters to know what people think so that when the dust settles down, they will start another level of oppression, that will not happen, our mumu don do. If they wanna fight, let them start and lead then the rest of us will follow behind them, the reverse will not work again, not in this country.

Faith without works is dead. What actionable steps are these Christians taking to prevent civil war. Or are they just attending all nights, hoping Angel Malachi or some other entity will come down and do the hard work for them.

I can't remember the last time u allow water to touch ur head,so u can't reason like a humanbeing, did he said their will be civil war? He is just using the army remembrance day to warn that, the present selfish, and corrupt jet buyer politicians and office holders should not allow anythin to cause the civil war again,so that the labour of the fallen heroes should not be in vain..
Are we going to keep quite until nigeria degenerate to mali, somalia, libya, syria situationBetter open ur brain and stop being tribalistic about situation in Nigeria..Things are not the way is should be,no doubt about that..
