The Abacha regime created a parallel government through the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) headed by Major General Muhammed Buhari. Nothing else typifies the marginalisation of the Yoruba than the lopsidedness of the projects carried out by the PTF. Figures from PTF Situation Reports (Vol. 2 Dec. 98) show that the PTF carried on as if there was no South West.

Of all the roads rehabilitated by he PTF, only 1984.5 kilometres of roads representing 10.84 per cent were carried out in the South West; from where the bulk of the PTF revenue came since the zone consumes over 60 per cent of refined petroleum products. All the Southern States had 4,440.43 kms or 24 per cent of road rehabilitation as against 13,870.47 kms or 76 per cent in the Northern States zone three comprising the North-West States of Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara had a lion share of 5020 kms or 27.42 per cent because the Fund’s Chairman, Buhari and the military dictator Sani Abacha were from there; zone four comprising the North-East States of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe picked 23.48 per cent. This is the zone where Salihijo Ahmed, the late Chief Executive of Afri-Project Consortium APC, the sole consultants that supervised all PTF projects came from.

Figures in other sectors were more scandalous. For instance, under the National Health and Educational Rehabilitation Programme (NHERP), the South West had zero allocation in the tertiary programme, while the North picked 100 per cent. In the vocational programme, the South West had zero while the North had 97 per cent. In the primary area, the South-West had zero against 88 per cent for the North and in the secondary area, it was zero for the South-West and 86 per cent for the North.

The health sector is similar. For the Teaching Hospitals, the South-West had zero while the North had 62 per cent. For the Specialist Hospitals, it was zero for the South-West and 71 per cent for the North; in General/State Hospitals the Yoruba had nothing while the North had 56 per cent for health clinics, it was zero for the South-West against the North’s 100 per cent.

Under the food supply summary, the Southwest had 7.26 per cent compared with 83 per cent for the North, Buhari’s zone having 60.54 per cent to itself.

Is this the latest assignment given to non-Yoruba's to dissuade Yorubas from voting the candidate of their choice? Yorubas are unprejudiced and unbigoted, so this unsubstantiated post means nothing to them. When the time comes we will vote for the candidate of our choice!

This really is a laughable forum. Or why is my comment deleted for expressing a contrary view.

A few comments:
1. It is funny how some people, particularly southerners, have somehow got the religion with the oft-repeated saying that "northerners are not corrupt".

2. Although Gen. Buhari is an austere person in personal life he is not, as some people would like to believe, "clean". As the records show his activities at PTF, while almost devoid of personal corruption, was completely unfair to the south. In his brief period as HOS the much-touted WAI was a callous approach to reforming a nation, and that callousness led the duo of Buhari-Idiagbon to kill off three journalists by applying Decrees #2 and #4 retroactively. Gen. Buhari really has no record that should make him into a demi-god, destined to rule again. People just need to stop looking for someone who is "not corrupt" and a benevolent dictator to lead Nigeria because that person doesn't exist - we need leaders with the total package for a modern age.

3. GEJ is also spending FG funds in a lopsided way to favor his countrymen and to the detriment of Yorubas. So, despite all the above if GEJ contests against Buhari and the latter conducts a well-run campaign, not the hurry-hurry travels from last time, Yorubas might vote for him especially if he chose a credible Yoruba for VP.

4. Whether the new party fields Buhari or some other person, if they don't get ahead of PDP in reaching out to the Nigerian people, they will open mouth on election day and not be able to close it. PDP is already warming up its divide & conquer routine, and its rigging machine.

I don't want to rebute all of your "theories" but the above cannot be ignored! Any goat that ever entered UCH or Ife teaching hospital knows you are lying. Till today, 2013, many bedsheets still exists from Buhari's PFT in these 2 hospitals! Drugs, equipment carried his mark and name for so many years too! So how that is "ZERO" allocation beats the imagination!

Since you have lied with that, why should anyone believe your other assertions?

Honestly the south west is the most over hyped political region in this country... But with all the mouth you can't get a 'net ' vote of 2 million vote from them ( correct me if you have facts )

South east didn't vote for Jonathan , the few that voted did because they hated Buhari

I was in Nsukka during the last election and I can tell that 60% of people didn't vote

It PDP can get south south and south east to vote they can get a net vote of 14 million votes

The real battle is in the middle belt , who ever gets the northern minorites to vote for them wins ,taraba , gombe , bauchi , nasarawa , kaduna and to a large extent Niger state are all filled with northern minorites who don't vote because they don't feel carried along

In summary south west is over rated politically
