Federal College of Education Oyo state is set to roll out Degree Programmes this was made known by the provost of the college Dr. Emmanuel Adeniyi at the 2012/2013 matriculation ceremony for the Nigeria Certificate of Education programme in the institution.The college which is known to be the only one in the Sub-Saharan African where teachers
are trained in special education is affiliating with the University of Ibadan to bring about this programme.According to the provost, the institution was set to run degree programmes in education well equipped andn human resources, teaching and research facilities, and the college was awaiting the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the
Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) order to conduct the post UTME examination to commence the 2012/2013 academic session.Dr. Adeniyi declared further that the college had what it takes to run quality degree programmes in special and general education. While welcoming and congratulating over 2,000 fresh students
that took the college’s oath for the NCE programme for the 2012\2013 academic session, Dr Adeniyi further stated that their dream of acquiring a university degree after their NCE programme could be realised in the college.Furthermore, he said: The college, being a specialised institution requires a lot of fund to keep abreast in the provision of quality teachers,therefore He pleads withNon-Government Organisations and well meaning Nigerians to support the efforts of
the Federal Government in its bid to ensure qualitative education, especially at the tertiary level in the country.
