Babies having babies: Girl aged just NINE gives birth to daughter in Mexico



A nine-year-old girl has given birth to a daughter in Mexico, according to authorities.

The baby girl was born on January 27 at the Zoquipan Hospital, in Mexico's western Jalisco state, weighing 5.95lbs.

The girl, named only as Dafne, was just eight years old when she fell pregnant, her mother told local officials in the state.

Jorge Villasenor, from the state prosecutor’s office, said: “We are looking for the young man to get his story because she does not understand what has happened.
“This is a rape or child sex abuse case.”

The youngster and her baby were released from hospital over the weekend and are believed to be doing well.

However the hospital said it would have to do extensive follow-up due to the new mother’s age.
