I already know about the aborigines in sask and other things.
what i just want information on is if there are nigerians over there, how they enjoy social life, also if someone can get job easily there.
And also the cost of accomodation.

Thanks

Even if you go into the holes of the ground, i am sure you will find some Nigerians there.
Every province or state or city has their own level of social life, but dont expect Lagos kinda social life there.

Please am about to apply for study visa with Canadian embassy in UK, as i have admission to University of Ottawa MSc Electronic Business Technology (EBT) , and need ideas about how to word some points in the requested Study plan.

These point are:

•Why do you wish to study in Canada in the program for which you have been accepted?

•What is your overall educational goal?

•Why are you not pursuing a similar program in your country of residence/citizenship?

•What research have you done into studies in your country of residence/citizenship?

•How will this program enhance your employment opportunities in your country of residence/citizenship?

What ties do you have to your country of residence/citizenship?

Please I need help. I want to migrate to manitoba district under the general stream , I have enough points but i need family connection to be able to qualify. I just need two people to give me affidavit of support to be able to qualify. I have sufficient funds to sponsor myself, so the affidavit of support will just be in writing. You do not need to support me. You just have to be legally resident in manitoba district.
Pls help , i am really desperate.
I wish I could help but I cannot. I'm sure there are other avenues in the Manitoba PNP that you can explore without having to get someone to get a false affidavit. I doubt anyone in his/her right senses will go to court to get an affidavit based on falsehood for someone they only met only; unless you meet someone who has a price. Goodluck.

No probs. All the best.

BTW, with a little background (career, experience, education, etc), perhaps someone on here can suggest better routes.

@ everyone in the house,
do anyone have an idea for how long the money need to be in your account before applying for visa.
For example I receive a payment of 1m today. Can i apply in the next 1 wk?

@ Delta007.My background is in law, first degree in law and masters in maritime and e-commerce law. I haven't got much experience though, i practised in nigeria for about 2yrs and then left for england for my masters and after that i started working in social housing,i ve got abt 6 yrs experience in that. But it seems like lawyers are not needed in other provinces apart from manitoba, so that was why i was thinking of going thru that route.
Pls have u or any1 else got any suggestions?
Have you seen the requirements for the Federal Immigration program? Under the Fereal Program, you qualify. There are different categories you may want to consider. Each one has it's merits and demerits. The fastest route for outsiders is under the "Skilled workers and professionals" program. If your occupation falls under the "highly demanded" occupations, your application is fast tracked and depending on your consulate, you can get your PR status in less than a year.

Try the eligibility test here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/tool/index.asp

Please take some time to go thru www.cic.gc.ca If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask them here. I'd try to answer if time permits.

Re: Travelling To Canada by Hotstepper(f): 9:51pm On Mar 16, 2010
@benom, the account needs to be active for atleast 3 months and when I mean active, I mean taking out money there etc, if u leave it there without any activity, it is no 1 failure for you cuz they will rightly know u put that money there just for the purpose of Visa. And 1M can hardly pay your school anyway,

My sponsor is retired. The money is there but will the absence of cashflow count?
Re: Travelling To Canada by Hotstepper(f): 1:51am On Mar 17, 2010
@aieromon yes it counts, make sure there is an activity in that account for atleast 3 months, da money out 2 another account, after sumtime, bring it in again, They have noticed that sum people who wants visa, borrow money and stack in one account and then come to apply for Visa and wen they get there, na another story
Re: Travelling To Canada by benom(m): 7:48pm On Mar 17, 2010
yes money goes out of the account and comes in
my housing allowance will drop into the account and i dont want them to
think its borrowed funds. I am wondering how i am going to do that
Re: Travelling To Canada by benom(m): 9:54pm On Mar 20, 2010
Hi, all our guys already in canada, Whats up. How are u all doing. Once in a while maybe u can just drop a little info in the house to show u are still here. Share some experience with us.
Re: Travelling To Canada by hannielle(f): 10:17pm On Mar 20, 2010
Hi guys i just got a mail from the school i am applying to for msc. They sent me this link for international grade conversion in case anyone is confused about what his/her graqde will look like in U|S or Canada. http://www.wes.org/gradeconversionguide  hope we will find it useful.

Hi Benom, i am a 1995 medical graduate of the University of Port-Harcourt. My application to WES was cancelled last year because Uniport degrees are not being accepted for evaluation. Please can u advise on any alternative evaluating bodies? I am in dire need of an evaluation for Postgraduate studies in USA or Canada.
Plenty of thanks for your help.
Re: Travelling To Canada by hannielle(f): 1:59am On Mar 21, 2010
@ everyone in the house
I am a medical doctor in the process of applying for permanent residency in Canada and I engaged the services of an immigration firm- Abrams and Krochak for this purpose.
I learnt recently though, that my qualifications are not recognized by the Canadian Medical Board.
This means i have no way of getting a wellpaying job to care for my family when we become landed immigrants.
I am in a fix now and i've had to temporarily suspend my application. Are there any Nigerian doctors in Canada who've walked this path? I really need your advice.

Delta007, you are doing a great job helping out nairalanders, do you know any Nigerian trained doctors in Canada who'd be willing to share their experience?
I don't mind undertaking a short specialist course in Canada before continuing with my immigration application if this would improve my chances of obtaining a good employment. Pls how feasible is this? Thx 4 helping out.
Re: Travelling To Canada by benom(m): 8:36am On Mar 21, 2010
@hannielle
It depends on what you studied at uniport and what kind of degree you were awarded compared to what you are applying for. All provinces in canada have their own conversion method. You can contact the graduate chair for advice and from what i have learnt so far, they are very receptive and are willing to assist. In my case MUN refered me to an independent result verification and conversion body in canada which i pasted the link earlier. They charge u for their fees anyway.
Re: Travelling To Canada by benom(m): 5:22pm On Mar 21, 2010
@EVERYONE
I have been surfing the net trying to find out the meaning of "not a bonafide student".
A bona fide student is a student that have been judged by the Visa Officer not to be an intending immigrant.
Finally this boils down to ties to your country.

@ all

Please i need information from any one that have use maple education service for admission and visa processing. Am asking because i intend using their service, I applied on my own last year without using any agent but was denied the visa due to the following reasons

1 Not a bonafide student

2 No evidence to proof that i will return back to my country after my studies
Re: Travelling To Canada by benom(m): 5:58pm On Mar 21, 2010
@marcar
I think the best thing is to visit the agent and see things for yourself.
I have heard of maple and intend visiting them too although i heard they are very expensive.
