Aregbesola Launches 50 Ambulances

The Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola has launched 50 state-of-the-art ambulance vehicles as part of the state’s Ambulance Service Scheme tagged O’ Ambulance.

Speaking in Osogbo the state capital, Governor Aregbesola identified poor emergency management as the major cause of deaths in many road accidents.

While launching the vehicles, 19 of which were procured by the state government and 31 by local government councils, Governor Aregbesola maintained that the deplorable state of major highways in the country is responsible for most of the road accidents, but added that if responses to these accidents had been prompt, many deaths would have been averted.

The Commissioner for Health, Temitope Ilori disclosed that the Ambulance scheme is a “stand-alone service” that is not attached to any of the nine state hospitals, adding that the vehicles will be stationed in strategic locations across the state for prompt and effective service delivery.

She stated that in case of emergency members of the public can call 07080601212 and 07080601313, with the emergency short code being 112

Tolexander: Prevention is better than cure!
Why not repairing the road which is the major cause of the accidents to prevent the accident instead of spending money on the ambulance. So the ambulance will be ploring the bad roads
