Minister Maku should immediately put an end to the jamboree he is leading, declare all the public funds he has collected in the name of this tour and return such to the state governments that have been swindled under the so-called ”Good Governance Tour.” LIEbaran, Over to you... |

Absolute rubbish from a sworn hater of truth. Mr lie Mohammed baffles me how he manages to spewn this rubbish and publish. In the first paragraph, Lie Mohammed betrayed a complete ignorance of the Good governance tour and it's workings. First, it's not compulsory or binding or a rating adventure. It's merely a product of consensus of Governors forum and FG. It is in line with the federal ministry of information's role to inform Nigerians about activities of governance. I don't blame Lie Mohammed, he is not accustomed to the democratic culture of informing the people about activities of governance. Coming from the spokesman of a party, which is run as a one man show, his phobia for such public disclosure of internal projects of govt is well understood. Lie Mohammed is so used to the dictatorial one man set up that has made him a life ACN spokesman therefore he finds the present commitment by Maku to inform Nigerians strange. But there's is nothing he can do about it than blab. As We speak, the tour is ongoing in Delta state. 5 Likes |

There is nothing we won't see out of this PDP. The other day Omisore and the 40 laptops were claiming Aregbesola's dualization of the Osogbo-Ilorin road for PDP/GEJ. I guess Maku doesn't really have projects from which to pilfer like othe Ministries, so he has come up with a creative solution. The "Good Governance Tour" is actually the "The Great Pilfering Tour". seanet01: Maku jaguda baba ole. |

These ACN goons are just so funny . Yesterday, Adams Oshiomhole came out to condemn Maku's Good Governance Tour. Today again, their spokesman followed suit. Aren't this a strategy to discredit the ongoing good governance tour which has really showcased projects executed by both state and local government in over 12 states so far? I don't know why anyone will be afraid of a move by ministry of information to perform its primary role of providing adequate information to the people on issues of Good Governance. If you say you are not hosting for the delegation, no problem. Allow the FG continue their exercise. They have sufficient funds to bankroll it. This latest call by Lai Mohammed for the tour to end flies off in the face of Reason. |

This is what happens when you leave first generation octogenarians to speak on your behalf, the man is so set in his olden days beliefs that he refuses to see the error of his ways, they mistake mediocre ness for criticisms, the ACN governors that are known to spend thriftily on inconsequentials are now complaining because it has come to show me what you have done.but it's not Lai's fault anyway,he normally has to make such utterances so that he can seem to be still relevant in the scheme of thing.and anyway. The esteemed governor of Delta state Dr Uguaghan has come out to say the tour was unanimously agreed upon by all the governors regardless of party affiliations. |

Look at what you are saying. Once a minister is appointed, he is not a minister for PDP or ACN or APC, he is a minister of the federal republic of Nigeria charged with the responsibility to perform his roles to the whole Country without fear or favour. Maku has the right to chide contractors handling federal Government projects. He has the right to extract information from them about the cost of the projects and the completion date. The public own these projects and they deserve a right to know. I must really say that all this hatred against Maku's tour is uncalled for. The young man is doing the job of informing Nigerians properly and I must commend him for that. If we have ministers like him more, things will more better |

Maku by requesting funds from the states already discredited the good governance tour. It smells of how Ministers would come to visit institutions under their supervision and will expect "their envelope" to be waiting. It is a sham. Please also come here and tell us how this tour is contributing to Nigeria's development. It is a silly exercise by a useless ministry - there is no need for a ministry of information. Re: Maku's Good Governance Tour Is A SCAM ~ ACN by Countryman93: 5:45pm On Feb 21, 2013 |
Just stumbled on this post and I believe it's more detailed than the comments from both Oshiomole and Lai Mohammed All 36 Governors Agreed To Participate In The Good Governance Tour-Gov. Uduaghan As the National Good Governance Tour of Nigeria's South South geopolitical region continues Thursday in Asaba, the Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has reaffirmed his support for the programme charging members of the team, led by the Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku to remain focused despite negative comments. Uduaghan spoke in Asaba when the NGGT team paid a courtesy call on him at the Government House. Governor Uduaghan who stressed the imperative of the Tour to bring to the front burner progress being made by Government at all levels, confirmed that all the 36 state governors had endorsed the programme on the Platform of the Governors' Forum. "I confirm and reaffirm that we all collectively agreed to this programme," he said. "As a State Government we are very very supportive of this programme. We thank you for your efforts so far. Please I also want to say that you shouldn't be discouraged. The hallmark of leadership is that you see the good, bad and the ugly and let the ugly not derail you from your focus. "I also want to thank Mr. President who has agreed to release you for this project. Although it is not a federal government project, if the President has said that he would not be a part of it, then there is no way you would have been part of it. "And it also shows how open he wants to be as a President. It also shows he has nothing to hide. He also wants to be assessed by the Tour Team", Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan noted. He further appreciated the NGGT team for the work being done pointing out that from his personal experience, the whole exercise could be strenuous. While urging the media to be objective and focus reports more on progress, the Governor said "A lot of issues make front burner in the Media but issues that have to do with development even when they are positive, are tucked away which I think is not encouraging and will not help us move forward". He also appealed to the media to be more specific when reporting on the Niger Delta observing that people, especially those outside Nigeria are of the notion that Delta State stands for the Niger Delta which is made up of 8 other States. He equally informed the Team that his administration has adopted a strategy tagged 'Delta Beyond Oil' which he said is being driven through the State Government's 3 Point Agenda. The Governor further informed that progress was also being recorded by the state in the areas of peace and security, infrastructural development and human capital development. Earlier, the Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku said contrary to comments the National Good Governance Tour is not a Federal Government programme but has the inclusion of the 36 state governments. "This Programme was tabled before the Federal Executive Council and it was debated there and the President directed that the programme should be presented to the National Economic Council", Mr. Maku stated. We stressed the need to leave partisanship. The Governors' Forum set up a special committee of Governors chaired by the Governor of Akwa Ibom State to further debate the programme and they all agreed on a common template for the tour". Speaking further on the Tour's participation, the Information Minister said, "If you look at all the people that are seated here, they come from all of society. So all we are doing is just to lead the path to show them what it is that government is doing. "We have gone through states that are not PDP. We have been to a CPC controlled state and they were elated when they heard the comments by the team on the projects, and the publicity it brought to them. We have sworn an oath not to be partisan. We have been to APGA states and letters of commendation have even been written to us". Maku said "Progress and challenges are not at the same level because resources are not at the same level either; some states are as old as Nigeria itself. We cannot say progress has not been made but we know that we can do better to achieve greater results. "When we started, people were nervous may be because the Minister of Information is on the delegation and we are going to say something partisan. We will make sure that we do everything transparently and accountably to the people of Nigeria. "We believe that this programme should start a national conversation on development, on progress, on welfare of the people. Our parties may be different, our thinking different, we may be competing with each other for power, but we are doing this to deliver services to the people. "Once you are elected as a Governor, you are no longer a PDP Governor, you are Governor of everybody in your state no matter the parties we belong to and you are working for the whole of society. "Our democracy is still very young, we are just 13 years old and people don't see the difference that is being made because democracy by nature involves arguments, involves disputes between those in power and society and sometimes in the midst of this disputes. "The people are confused because their attention is not focused on the progress being made in the midst of these disagreements and it was important therefore that we all come together to reassure our citizens" "Leadership is the most difficult job in the world, especially political leadership. Governance must be removed from pure partisanship He said "Part of this movement is to show people what is happening in the country. There is tremendous work being done in the states but this is not being reported in the media. For instance in Delta State, the Minister observed that there have been notable changes since his first visit then as a Political Editor with the Champion Newspaper, Lagos in 1991 when he followed the then Head of State and Military President General Ibrahim Babangida. Maku said "Nobody will come to Asaba today and say it is the same thing. Even if you are blind, you can not say there are no changes. "The last time I left the Tour in Enugu there was no flight so to return here the following day I had to fly to Asaba Airport and that was the first time I was flying through Asaba. So when I arrived here and saw the Airport, I knew that it is quite different from the old generation airports we were constructing. So you cannot say that progress has not being made. http://ourfatherland.com/discuss.php?tab=foreign 3 Likes |

It is a shame when a party tha has merged with the concerted lies of trying to make Nigeria a betters place come out causing controversies and making statements they are not having facts about. How will they be asking you and I if the FG is paying for the tour or the state govts? This implies that this party and her leadership rush to press without clear facts. Did they pause to ask their governors what transpired in their meeting and what was their consensus agreement with the other governors from othe political parties? ACN is beginning to lose objectivity, and I fear that it will be transferred to APC in the merger process. To the best of my knowledge, this NGGTOUR was a consensus agreement between the Federal and state governments and it is by no means Labaran Maku's set up or scam as the ill mannered ACN has started on cheap propaganda and indirect blackmail. It bodes on mediocrity and confusion when people that should be respected spew sh*t in public while trying to sell their low quality selves to us Nigerians. What do you have against a tour that has opened our eyes, for instance, making someone like me begin to take proper note of events when I visit each state? Like knowing that Abia is a dead state, that it is only the Federal government projects that exist their, that the only projects in Kwara with the exception of those by the FG are the ones Bukola Saraki did? Making me know that Cross River seems to have lost her bearing after Donald Duke? Making me know that Bayelsa was stagnant during Sylva's tenure and that Dickson needs to be watched? Say the truth ACN and her leadership, what are you afraid of? |

koruji: Maku by requesting funds from the states already discredited the good governance tour.Maku did not request any money from any body, the governors agreed at their forum on how to fund a tour that will showcase both Federal and State projects, Maku is not a governor and as such not a member of that forum, as such, he cannot make any request. He is just leading that tour because it falls within his purview as the Minister of Information in his administration, he is just a servant carrying out instructions. I structions jointly issued by the Federal and State governments in a consensual agreement, a dissenting voice like Oshiomole had his day at the forum to dispute the tour and I guess 35 against 1 carried the day. No body in his right senses will turn it against GEJ(who heads the FG) or Maku(who heads the tour) or any of the other governors who sat, strategised and agreed to this tour. If you have nothing to contribute, STFU! |

.Garri (x7):To my knowledge I think they have been to 12 states or so and 3of those states opposition states, how come we don't hear of excesses or complaints coming from any of them,I mean if the most ECONOMICALLY PRUDENT governor in Nigeria being Peter Obi of Anambra State did not complain, even Enugu whose governor was absent and so the deputy was in his stead did not complain,if the cost was that much I think the deputy governor of Enugu would have asked to be exempted and everybody would understand, how much does it cost to put 120 people in hotel lodgings, and feed them morning and night for three days, please stop making a mountain out of a mole hill,or was it not an ACN speaker of house assembly that took was it fifty r so women to London for shopping, this tour on the other hand is for our benefits cos it gets to keep this governors on their fetes,I mean can't you see some of them already getting jittery, |

I am really not surprised this is coming up...I did expect this earlier than now...coming now when the NGGT set to explore the South Western states, only leaves the thought of a party threatened by a better performance from PDP. |

ACN and its spokesperson hav lost it COMPLETELY. Does it mean the ACN cannot set aside partisan politics for one second? Must the ACN politicise every and anything? Smh! This same good governance tour was in Imo (APGA), Anambra (APGA) and Nasarawa (CPC). Their visit to Imo was particularly interesting because Rochas Okorocha used some of the things that was said (including what Maku said) during the visit to run TV commercials for some weeks. What then is the problem with ACN and Lai Muhammed? All the while, I'v been non-challant towards political parties but the ACN is making me HATE the party. This has earned him rise to fame to be a Governor of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The team has been to all the States in the North -central and South -east Geo-political zones , Rivers state, Cross River State, Bayelsa State and presently Delta State. The Tour Team have been to 15states and also the FCT and non of the 15 Governor's complained of Maku's multi- million Naira proposal ? The governor of bayelsa was not present through out the Tour in his State and it was a Huge success. This Moribund boisterous comedian is lying and should be ignored ! I can understand how quivering his lips will look if the entire nation finds out that he did waste a lot of Edo state resources on his re-electioneering!
