donedy: It's unfortunate that most of the people here are so misinformed and deluded. One person even went to the extend of quoting Wikipedia as a source: Another stupidity of most Nigerian. Just because an irrational guy say his sponsor was the Iranian government, Nigeria immediately take it as a fact, even the SSS. We should also believe any confession made by Boko Haram. The SSS within their capacity should have performed thorough investigation before releasing a public statement.

Other countries like US, Israel are busy catering for their interests by finding ways to impede and disrupt the developing relationship between Nigeria and Iran, while a black man will always think like a black man

Iran, in 2009, proposed to share nuclear technology with Nigeria based on mutual relationship, but the proposal was scrapped due to threat of Sanction from United States. In 2010, when Nigeria raised the issue of building nuclear reactors for power generation, the West said they should focus developing their downstream energy.

Of course, the United States and Europe help Africa; the aids come in the form of money or finished good which will never benefit us in the long-run, which is like providing a man with his daily bread.

The SSS detained-idiot might be a scapegoat who was setup by a US proxy that disguised himself to be an Iranian.

Share nuclear technology with a terrorist nation beside why dont they share it with S/Arabia why Nigeria, is it that they love Nigeria or they just what to make Nigeria their nuclear weapon base.

Nigeria is not weak. The terrorists are presumming that Southern Nigerians are as naive as the Core North. If Nigeria is that weak, how come all these schemes and more, are being frustrated.

HAH: This guys are not terrorist but are obviously working for the iranian intelligence agency they same way we have so many CIA and mossad agents everywhere.

Infact most countries do have intelligence agencies that gather infomation for them in foreign countries mostly locals are recruited to aid in that. In Nigeria we have the NIA who are mostly in foreign land gathering infomation, I personally know of somebody planted by NIA in a foreign land as a clergy.

Nigerias problem is not iran but salafis who are funded by saudi arabia but because saudi is a major US ally they are untoucheable,

The SSS should please stay clear of international politics and focus on our domestic threats.
Truthfully speaking most countries do have secret intelligence agents on espionage mission in their foreign mission base.but this is carried out to evaluate economic viability of the country, the military programmes, secret files and international covert affairs are majorly what are the classified targets of any countrie's secret service.for example there's a specialised secret intelligence unit of the Nigerian army known as CPS.they carry out covert missions in first world nations and nations with their own military production corp, they uncover the new sophisticated technology of that country and report how the NA can incorporate such into her system.my point, even Nigeria has its own NIA,CPS,on espionage in foreign missions not on how to kill innocent citizens due to political and diplomatic feud between its so called enemy.Iran will surely not disclose its direct involvement, especially when Nigeria has not tolerated extremism of any sort and have western powers which iran is against support its fight against terrorism.Ahmadinjaed(if spelt correctly),surely would look for every avenue to tie up links with alqaeda in the african soil to deal a blow on its super enemies(US and Israel).its not today that iranian state sponsored terrorism would surface.lastly Iran is against the world not US and Israel. The moment countries like Nigeria discover that irans nuclear programme won't stop at destroying Israel and us alone,d better they stand.I think we should take counter terrosism seriously.now that international militants and extremist have joined in crippling our security stabililty.

nagoma: The whole story is so ridiculous for the following reasons;

If you ever get to learn the FACTS you will fear IBB. Please don't forget that the Army Chief said that Maj Gen Mohammed Isah received intelligence that Boko Haram was coming to bomb Military Staff College, still Isah refused to inform other officers, but was rather DEMANDING extension of stay in the Army. If the truth of all these are released to the public, Nigeria will be too hot for some individuals.

Rafidi :
Please Nigerians should be able to tell when a story sounds like comedy.firstly I have been informed by a reliable source who is a friend in Ilorin that one of the so called "suspect" arrested is an A-C-N chieftain in the state, and he is a Shia Muslim.he is facing a power struggle with other A-C-N members, and being a Shia, some dumb people want to make him an "Iranian spy".there is an estimated 10-15 million Shia Muslims in Nigeria, and that is not enough to make one "an Iranian spy".and what would this Yoruba man be spying for Iran in Kwara of all places? This is dirty Yoruba politics, and it is really unfortunate the SSS is been dragged into it to claim unwarranted glory.moreover, our cheap media like Vanguard who the israeli ambassador have visited their office,is quick to pick up the story and publish it because the word "Iran" is found there.secondly,Shia Muslims are different from the Sunni extremists known as Salafists or Wahhabi.the Shia themselves are victims of Wahhabi terrorism around the world.boko haram and alqaeda follow the Wahhabi or Salafist ideology.lastly, what is the evidence for such a dramatic story? I hope the Iranian embassy would sue the newspaper that paraded this story and whoever made it up and disseminated it,for dragging Iran's image into the mud.last time it was containers of weapons in transit that were arrested in Lagos.the iranian weapons were bought by either senegal or gambia.internationally,it is against UN resolutions to either buy or sell weapons to iran.obviously the west african country was too scared to admit it bought iranian made weapons from iran.israel quickly led the propaganda campaign, and nigeria newspapers like the vanguard and guardian were publishing exactly as israeli newspapers on the siezed weapons.first we were told the weapons were for gaza.imagine where nigeria is and where gaza is.later, apparently the US in the UN influenced the Nigerian decision to report Iran to the security council.perhaps this story today is meant to coincide with the coming of Bill Clinton.it is called "eye service".the question is why are we the ones now looking for trouble with iran? Must iran be our enemy because the US is a rival of iran?

We never see any evidence. We only hear. When this whole issue comes to light it will be that the SSS were informed by the CIA about the "terrorists". Assuming that the allegation is true then Iran is counteracting what US and Israel are doing to them. Its called counter espionage. What do you think American and Israeli embassies abroad do? Issue visas alone? Believe this you'll believe anything. Those embassies are staffed by CIA and Mossad agents and their primary duty is spying, espionage and hacking. We never forget the recent wave of assassination of Iranian diplomats and scientists by Israel/US.
The IBB Sultan angle doesn't make any sense to me. What axe have the duo got to grind with Iran?
Yes the US and Israel believe they have scores to settle with Iran and they know where Iran is. Our authorities should discountenance any move by imperialists to turn our ground to a proxy war battlefield.

It's unfortunate that most of Nigerian youths do not find out the truth but would rather follow the stereotype. The whole Spying Saga is curningly and politically motivated for several reasons:
1. The personality involved is a prominent ACN chiftain in Ilorin
2. He is a prominent Shia Cleric in Ilorin.
3. He has been charged to court ever since the begining of January, where several sittings had taken place. Unfortunately for the SSS, they were unable to provide sufficient proof.
4. In the last sitting, the court asked the SSS to provide sufficient proof otherwise the acused must be release within 2 weeks. Only for the SSS to come public the following day and claimed that they were about to charge the acused to the court.
5.Ever since the publication, especially in the acused native State of Kwara. The news has been so much publicised on the State media to the extent that you'll have the impression that the the acuse has been found guilty of the said offence.

Please ask yourself why does western powers back only sunni muslims to commit terrorist act? Why don't they back Christians? Why are Muslims either sunnis or shia always ready to partake in the act of terrorism? Don't blame the west rather blame the islamist because nobody forced them into terrorism.

Mallam Abdulahi Berende is neither a spy nor a terrorist.

I remember when mallam berende went to study in Iran in 2006, we were happy that at last one of our mallams got opportunity to study in Iran.

Study in Iran is one thing we cherish so much but it was difficult for the mallams before to get the opportunity. So after mallam berende study some of the mallams also got the opportunity.

So our mallams are not spies and not terrorists.
