Symphony007: What sort of nonesense are some fools even saying here? Is'nt it the right of someone who has'nt been proven guilty to be granted bail at the pleasure of the judge? Does that in anyway signal the end of the case? Through out the cold war no single nuke was fired, not even to the most horrific nations on earth but some cows here are saying russia will nuke nigeria because of sailors? Do some folks here actually think before writing?
Bro the truth is that there are a lot of Nigerians that grossly suffer from inferiority complex & mental slavery. They hardly know how the world works & they just spew shyte at the quickest chance/opportunity.

The Russians said , if you don't release them we would turn one of the nuke head towards Nigeria.
This is totally different from Nigeria's approach which , 'please release our citizens' .

Military might at work

Russia next-gen air defense system
Consist of Pantsir-S missile and artillery systems, as well as advanced radio equipment.

The S-400 is a next-generation anti-aircraft weapon system capable of firing three different missile types. The system was designed to intercept and destroy jamming planes, radar planes, reconnaissance aircraft, strategic carriers, cruise missiles and medium-range ballistic missiles.

Military analysts reported that the Triumph is capable of tracking more than 100 targets simultaneously at ranges of over 600 kilometers (370 miles), and destroying up to 12 targets at varying distances.

ayodinho91: Justice Okechukwu Okeke of a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Monday granted bail to 15 Russian sailors charged with alleged unlawful importation of arms to Nigeria.

The judge released the defendants to the Russian Ambassador in Nigeria as a bail condition and also granted bail to the vessel “MV Myre Seadiver” in a bond of 500,000 dollars to be obtained from First- Bank Plc. The Russian nationals were charged together with their vessel on four counts, bordering on alleged unlawful importation and possession of firearms, as well as non declaration of the content of the vessel and they had pleaded not guilty to the charges.

At the resumed hearing of the matter on Monday, counsel for the defendants, Mr Chukwuwike Okafor informed the court of his pending application for bail of the defendants, urging the court to make an order admitting all the defendants and their vessel to bail since the essence of bail was aimed at securing the defendants’ attendance in court for trial.

Justice Okeke subsequently asked the prosecution to state the conditions under which he thinks the defendants should be admitted to bail.
The prosecutor, Ernest Ezebilo, in response stated that for the sake of overriding public interest, the defendants should be released on bail to the Russian Ambassador in Nigeria, who will undertake to produce them as the need arises.

Yep, they threatened Nigeria with an AIR-DEFENCE SYSTEM.........seriously how does that work? Threaten to blow up any Nigerian plane that invades the airspace of mother Russia? Seriously.

Yet again, special treatment for foreigners in Nigeria. These people treat Nigerians as if they are not humans in their own countries. I would have locked them up with hard labour for a long time.

Nation pass nations oooo.....country pass countries my brother...if it were nigerian that try that in Russia, I beat with you the case will not last for a week, either they kill then or sentence them to life imprisonment.
Forget that memorandum of understanding between the two nation...when it come to case like this it is MOM not MOU again, "Memorandum of Misunderstanding", so forget about this white guy, don't trust them for anything, Russian, USA, UK,Germany etc forget them they are hear because of what they are looking for, Nigerian don't treat this people as anything, they don't wish us well....
Re: 15 Russian Sailors Granted Bail by daylae(m): 11:25am On Feb 26, 2013
The case not over yet,and they are yet to be convicted. Its too early to cry foul because of a bail granted. They eventually might be convicted if proven guilty, and the russian federation can only seek consideration on their behalf, only base on mutual understanding. Some accusations and conclusions of threat here is laughable.

There are international laws against such offences, which russia also agree to.

in the event that the sailors abscond or dont apppear to face their trial ... can the ambassador be arrested or made to produce the in the face of the immunity that he enjoys in any host country that he finds himself? i think the ambassador ought not have allowed himself to be used as surety for the released sailors.... grin grin grin cool

U knw, d worst part is: the arms on board d vessels were legal, because d vessel is a russian vessel which protects d russian sea agaisnt the pirates. It is the russian govt property. This vessel radio the nigerian navy befoer dockin. The only thing being when searched, it contained arms which accordin to our law is illegal. Not dt these ppl come to sell.
As far as am concerned, dz ppl will be released. It is purely a diplomatic matter!!!
The only foolishness is from the makin of d case public as if it's something special

Dnt undstnd y most Nigerians lacks strong logical reasoning. There is notin wrong in granting sm1 who ve not been convicted bail provided a bond is signed and dia is a reputable garantor dat can provide him wen needed. @OP: I tought it was posted few days ago dat dey ve been sentenced 2 life imprisonment?

i respectfully totally disagree with you. Those men are free agents and those weapons they were carrying are illegal cause they have no permission to sell it in nigeria and they were never given permission to even stray into nigerian waters. If that ship was the property of the russian government and had permission to enter nigeria, sergie lavrov won't be pleading for the nigerian government for an out of court settlement, this case must be seen to it's very end to send a message to the world that we're not one spineless african country.
