All is well, at least his own brothers clearly carried out this act. Ehn, oya make police start investigation now, abi is that not part of their job any more? Who wants to bet you won't hear any condemnation from the Retardeen on this dastardly act?
Since you already knew those that did this evil, can you also tell us those that killed Bola Ige, pa Alfred Rewane, kudirat abiola, funso Williams, dele Giwa, etc in south west Nigeria? Ethnic bigotry.

Well, Mumu, we all know now that those killings had less to do with tribe than to do with a desire to stay in power. Abacha was gonna do away with anyone that tried him regardless of tribe or religion. My point still remains: while his death was unfortunate, it is a 'good' thing it happened in his own backyard if not people like you (as ure even still trying to do now) woulda been quick to blame other tribes, thereby throwing the country into more unnecessary confusion.

May the soul of the CP through the mercy of Christ rest in peace. Investigation should start from his family, friends and business partners. Hope there is no family land battle or business deal?

LeJeun3: So sad! May the family be consoled.

However, from the story, they noticed they were being trailed, did they call for backup? When the shots were fired the official convoy were sleeping? I find it so hard to believe that after catchin up to him 100m from his house they still escaped.

Merde, je m'enfou!

It wasn't his convoy, it was his personal car. He left his retinue of guards and went with his orderly and driver. They were double crossed very close to his house. Means somebody gave away some info about his movements. Such a shocking death from a fine man, very nice and peaceful... Lost a nice inlaw today... RIP SIR

Jesuspikin87: You noticed a bus trailing ur car and what u cud do was drive into ur own street.
How did u become a commissioner? I mean, He should know better.

How did you get to learn how to type? Was it the commissioner driving or his driver? who do you think told the story? It was his driver! The driver could be blamed for being slow but the time between noticing the bus trailing them and the attack was too short.

You should learn to question objectively and not like a motor-park tout.

Kgdavid:

dey wer almost home wer he knew he had security waiting so that was the smartest move based on the available information.

1. who knew he was in town?
2. who would have a good reason for wanting him dead?
3. who would have access to that kind of firepower?
4. who knew he was unguarded at that moment?
5. who would know where he lived?

[b]Answers:

1. Everybody would have known he was in town because I am almost dead certain he rode into town with an escort and sirens blaring.

2. By virtue of his status as a Police commissioner automatically makes him a politician. He prolly was also into village politics as well. A lot of folks would want him dead.

3. In Nigeria, you can buy an AK-47 from the streets for as little as 50 - 100 thousand Naira.

4. He was prolly being followed and monitored. A reflection of poor training. Nigerias answer to insecurity is brute force in numbers which really isn't all that wise. If he had an unmarked vehicle in his convoy that was trailing him, they would have spotted those guys faster. Every time I see a convoy go past me, I laugh because it's so easy to attack them and get the upper hand especially with those AK 47s which are not very effective in close quarter combat. If his orderly had a pistol, he would have been able to manuever inside that vehicle and return fire easier than he would with a big rifle inside that confined space.

5. Everybody in his community would know where he lives. That's a no brainier.

In summary, the Nigerian Police needs to be retrained. Those AK-47s should only be carried by a special unit (e.g our SWAT unit). Inside a car, an AK-47 is not easy to manuever. A pistol in the hands of a well trained officer is deadlier than an AK47 in the hands of a thug. Moving in a convoy with flashing lights dosent necessarily mean that ou are safe. A special team of officers in an unmarked vehicle following a distance behind would be more effective as they would spot a trailing vehicle faster and move to intercept. Our entire security structure needs to be revisited. It rather sad. He was killed in front of his gate. He had a unit of heavily armed officers inside his house who didn't respond, despite hearing what I am sure would have sporadic gun shots just outside the gate. By the time they responded, the assailants had enough time to kill the commissioner, shoot up his orderly, ransack the vehicle and take the orderlies weapon and then get into their vehicle and drive away. That shows gross incompetence. It's a sad case, but I am not surprised. I have always said that a well coordinated unit of armed robbers would be able to enter the central bank and get away easily.

This is indeed a sad sad case. We really are at the mercies of men of the underworld in this nation.

PIMCO’s and Governor Stein’s “rational temperance,” in contrast to excessive historical bouts of “irrational exuberance,” simply counsels to lower return expectations, not to abandon ship. PIMCO is a global investment manager – not one with a perpetual frown or even an ever-present half empty glass – but one which hopes to provide alpha and above market returns while still standing tall in the aftermath of future irrational bouts of exuberance.

We join with Governor Stein and perhaps Alan Greenspan in encouraging not an exit but a reduced expectation. Credit spreads nor interest rates cannot be artificially compressed forever, nor can stock prices rise perpetually on their coattails. Be rational, be optimistic if so inclined, but temper it with a commonsensical conclusion that we have seen something similar to this before, and that previous outcomes seldom matched the exuberan

Of course, it might be anyone's turn. The insecurity in the country is alarming. If a commissioner can be assassinated, only God can save a commoner.
