Driving and owing a car is what most women will jump at but for me its not. I have this seriosfear for driving, though i have practice in d field on two occasion but i dont have the zeal to get serios at it.
I have a car parked that needs to be carressd and pampered but i will rather go wait under d sun for keke napep.
IS there anyone that has ever been in this situation, how did u overcome it?

Please, stay away from driver's seat, so that you dont send people to their early graves. Driving is not some romance you want the males to sweet-tongue you into. If you are this scared and not sure of yourself, dont bother touching any car key. Never associate driving with romance, because its a matter of life and death.

When you are ready to learn how to drive, find a driving school for that. Everything is not romance, you know. Women! Smh!

And please dont tell us you are male, because that will be so weird.

Before I started driving I used to be so scared of cars and driving. Whenever people drive, I would cringe and almost have a heart attack. I wondered how they could navigate especially in tight, traffic filled places.
I got a car and when I was tired of staring at it repeatedly, I had some people to teach me, the first was patient and taught me the basic essential skills(thank god for that), the second was a bit crass n used to spend some additional time insulting me especially since I refused to go beyond gear 2 on the express (I understand his frustration now), I was slow and steady and took my time sha. The first time I drive into the express, fright made me remove my two hands from the steering, the guy almost slapped me, lool
One day I just got tired of his jabs and decided that if we die on the road it will serve him right, and I drove that day like I meant it. I thought of all the money I spent, the time, the insults and all the humans driving and was like what the heck. I shocked him but I was determined that I was not going to be a slouch or be referred to as "oh, na woman dey drive". From that day, I never looked back plus I find I enjoy driving, a lot and fast too .

Just take it slow and steady, and build up your confidence. It is all in your mind

My very first drivin lesson is over a year now, it was fun though nd I was so happy wen I overtake a bicycle. Lol can u imagine.

The only way to overcome the fear is to drive it...Just keep driving it in the fields, in your street if traffic permits. Any chance you have, just drive it... Get someone that can drive to sit beside you on the way from church and drive at your own speed o....SLOWLY... One day, you will wake up and wonder why it was so difficult for you to learn driving...

I understand your fear. As a guy, I also experienced it. Just tell yourself you can do it. Start from the fields and master the inner city roads. Pay good attention to your instructor and try not to break under pressure.

Its better to enter the major highways on Sundays and use the time to gather experience. I'm happy you have shown interest. Driving to and from church is a great start.

Be a learner for as much as two years and soon you'll be driving intercity and interstate.

You need a push in order to make you overcome the fear. I used to be in the same situation as you are, infact i renewed my learner's permit 4 times before i finally got the courage to drive alone. Whenever i see other women driving cars i used to admire them and would often ask myself when i would be able to achieve that. Now in the interim, i got a driver to drive me around. This guy used to misbehave on the road and often times when i cautioned him, he would challenge me on the road and insult me. One day, a saturday to be precise i needed to go out and asked him to come pick me. Not only did he arrive very late, but also came dressed as if he was going for a party. He had the audacity to inform me that he had a party to attend and so we must be back by 1pm. That was the last straw i could take from him, so i fired him on the spot. And i told myself enough was enough; i had to prove to myself that i could move the car on my own. I picked up my car keys and would you bliv it, i drove all d way down to s/lere and back without any issues. And since that day i have never stopped driving. U too can do it

Update- training day 2,my instructor said am not doing bad. Learnt to use/change gear one to two. For my mind I say make we enter express na dere wahala go de even though we are learning in a not too busy street.
