Nothing Oga Joe do will surprise me anymore. He, without hesitation, fired Ringim, Justice Salami (indirectly though), dt Immigration Boss, Damoren of NCAA, now Law Sch. Directors; conversely, he pardons EX-CONVICTS & when he was asked to sack a Pension thief (Maina) he shamelessly told d world dt only d Head of Service can do so & NOT him. Arunma Oteh of SEC is another story for another day...

franchizy: It is only in Nigeria dat d majorities are marginalized. The North r majorities yet we ve only 2 Law schools in d North (Kano and Yola) while d south East also ve 2 (Bayelsa ,d Enugu).
This is not acceptable by us. We demand 4 more slots now

What are you waiting for ,carry placards now ! undecided

The DG is to retire this year having stayed 8 years, the DDGs of Lagos and Enugu have both stayed about 10 years. The DDG Kano has stayed 5 years. There are ongoing reforms in the entire legal education in Nigeria which the directors are aware of. Also, the 8 years rule for directors in the Federal Civil Service is now being invoked. It is not about tribal sentiments. That is exactly the true picture. Long live Nigeria.

Abuja campus actually has the largest population as well as better accommodation facilities.

Let's us not be sentimental. When it suits us this country is divided into 3 while officially we have 6 geo-politicals zones.

Based on the locations of the law schools we have:
East - Enugu
South-West - Lagos
South-South - Yenagoa
North Central - Abuja
North West - Kano
North East - Yola

Please check your facts well before posting such. As we are, this country is already divided thanks to people who withhold information.

This is å terrible attempt to misinform people. All six campuses are spread around all six geo-political zones within the country. Its also mischievous to consider yenagoa as east, when we all know bayelsa is strictly south-south.

olokfor: The Nigerian government has fired the director general of the Nigerian Law School, Tahir Mamman, and his six deputies throwing the network of law schools into a mid session crisis.

There are six law schools in the country located in Lagos, Enugu, Kano, and recently Yenagoa – capital of president Goodluck Jonathan’s home state, Bayelsa – and Yola, capital of Adamawa state.

Deputy directors head the schools, and although the federal government offered no reasons for the sudden sack coming when the schools are in mid session, presidency sources in Abuja said it was based on the recommendation of the Nigeria’s Justice Minister, Mohammed Adoke. President Jonathan approved the sack late Thursday.

Mr. Mamman will keep his post till a replacement is announced for his job and those of his deputies. Unofficial sources in Mr. Adoke’s office said the recommendation was based on claims that Mr. Mamman had spent five years in office.

This was Mamman's intention... To make sure that none of the Deputy DGs stay after he is gone...
