Ok no worries, seems to be a very scarce comodity, i have also asked coscharis they did not have a clue what i was talking about.

just wondering if there is a way to by-pass the system, so that it does not shut-down the engine

what kind of car do u drive? i plan on ordering them from europe.

Its pathetic those rip-off so-called dealerships in naija only promote petrol cars and also drive the cost of importing new cars crazily expensive! How is the diesel in Nigeria faring with your Golf TDI? I hear you need Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) as low as 50 ppm for these cars to work properly. Do you get a reliable supply of ULSD in Nigeria?

As for the DEF fluid, you may need to find a way to import it in bulk and store it. You are required to top it up every 10k to 15k miles depending on your car model and manufacturer.

Hi, thanks for your comment. I ensure that i buy my diesel from reliable gas stations such as Mobil & Forte Oil Diesel Direct stations. The performance is fair. My Golf 6 is equipped with d DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), so it helps to effectively control the emission, hence no black smoke.

I am making arrangement to import all my servicing parts and tools from europe. Would save me plenty of stress.

Fortunately, i had a chat this morning with a Julius Berger driver about the diesel engine. All their cars (VW, Skoda, Mercedes, Toyota) are all diesel powered. He said the diesel engines are much better than the petrol.

I would also agree with you that our so-called dealership in Nigeria are still far behind in terms of develoment. Diesel powered cars are the in-thing in developed countries in europe.

i see a very big bussiness oppurtunity here, for dealers with the time and contact, the way things are going diesel cars (2010+) are becoming more acceptable, the dealer can even charge a good premium for this kind of service.

Imagine getting city range-to-empty of up to 700km on a single tank for the VW Jetta and Golf TDI's? Highway mileages can be in the excess of 1000km! Most countries abroad have introduced strict controls on the refining of diesel fuel to ensure it is very clean with sulfur concentrations as low as 15ppm; this has helped their citizens to quickly tap into the benefits of diesel engines without hurting the environment. A quick check at Nigeria's DPR website reveals that the benchmark given to importers for diesel sulfur concentrations is as high as 5000ppm!I hope we can quickly adapt. I was thinking of getting the Passat TDIto use in Nigeria, but the seemingly unavailability of DEF may sway my choice to the Jetta TDI which relies only on a DPF for emissions control.

What has been your real life mpg's so far in your Golf TDI?

In all honesty, i havent really done a real evaluation. However, before i got the diesel powered, i had the petrol powered of the same car and i must admit that the diesel is more economical than the petrol. Also, when i buy 2k diesel, it takes me to vi and back to the mainland for 2 days.

changed my mind i went for the 2010 X6 diesel powered also instead, no need for DEF, now i am needing a good mechanic as coscharis in ph dont do diesel engines, pls help thanks

Where can I get it here in Nigeria abuja or lagos pls. Pls how can I get in contact with a good diesel mechanic here in abuja.

Diesel mechanics are scarce, try and see if u can get someone from JB construction as their fleets are all diesel powered. Also getting certain parts here might be difficult

Your best bet is to order it from a Peugeot dealership in the UK. But u will need someone who would go and pick it up, and someone who would bring it to naija. DHL and other courier service often refuse to accept liquid content.
