Police kill NSCDC or NSCDC assault police...no be my concern! The major thing that caught my attention in the story is that pipeline vandalism is now rampant in the west. So these Yoruba-Yoruba people destroy pipelines? I thot it was only in the SE and SS that these kind of things happen! Yoruba, i hail thee o!!

I wonder why it is always the Nigerian Police fighting against the other security agencies. Why is that their responsibilities are not clearly defined and if they were defined, why do we have both the Police and NSCDC at the same location? It seems both agencies are trying to cover something.Above all,I think NSCDC are gradually taking the glory if there was any from Nigeria Police. It is a matter of time before they replace the Police.

Story story...Story
The Civil Defence I know can never do all these things narrated in this Super Story, rather, we all know what the Police can do.

As the police officers were approaching the scene, they heard sounds of “serious gun firing” near the pipeline area; and Mr. Gabriel instructed his men to head towards the direction.”

Hahahahaha! Na today? Which Nigerian Policeman will hear serious gun firing and "head towards the direction", instead of picking race and running 4-40? Who are you trying to deceive? Abegi!!!

it's just un-heard of for Police men to fire at their sister agency, i wonder what the Government have been doing to stop all this wrong killings by the men of the police force these days... the matter should just be investigated and the culprits should be tried and given appropriate judgment by the law

Some body should please tell Ngozi that there are better ways to cook stories and the reader will be more confused than this she is doing. Frank Mba, though same parents, cooks it better. Atleast, he will make it half done and leave it for you to go and complete and if u make up some thing different and wrong at the end of the day, he will tell you that u did not understand the story well unlike this woman wey go just cook everything and serve as dinner.

THERE SEEMS TO BE NO LOVE LOST AND A TERRIBLE DISCONNECT AMONG OUR SECURITY AGENCIES. THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE A PROPER CENTRAL COORDINATION OF THESE SO MANY SECURITY BODIES. EVERY SECURITY BODY SEEMS TO BE ON ITS OWN. TO COMPOUND THE PROBLEM, THEY ARE LOCKED UP IN SUPREMACY TUSSLE. THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WE HAVE SO MANY SECURITY LAPSES/BREACHES. THE NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISER SHOULD SORT OUT THIS EMBARRASSING SITUATION AS A MATTER OF URGENCY. EFFECTIVE SECURITY CAN ONLY BE ACHIEVED THROUGH HARMONIOUS WORKING RELATIONSHIP AND NETWORKING AMONG THE VARIOUS AGENCIES ENTRUSTED WITH THE RESPONSIBILITY.

i was expecting this kind of super story from the NPF. Will they accept before? even if they were caught red-handed. I always ask if there is any police officer from a good christian/muslim background, with good moral upbringing, self discipline, self control; who knows the definition of integrity, love and fear of God. OR is there any kind of oath or initiation they take during training that is always making 99% if not all of them behave like beasts?

i find it difficult to understand which part of the planet they came from. underverse?

draogtech: The police denied that its officers shot any civil defence officer.

The Lagos State Police Command has denied claims that its officers attacked officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, on Wednesday.

In a press statement issued by Ngozi Braide, its spokesperson, the police said the civil defence officers disarmed police officers responding to a distress call over alleged petroleum pipeline vandalism at Mosimi.

“The Lagos State Command wishes to use this medium to put the record straight on what actually transpired at Isawo-Ikorodu at early hours of today 27/3/2013 between the NSCDC and the Police,” said the statement.

“At about 0145hrs of date, there was a distress call from DM security PPMC, Mosimi that they were experiencing drop in pressure on the pipeline. The Unit Commander in charge of Konu immediately pulled out his men on Konu axis under Inspr Sunday Gabriel to proceed to the scene.”

Ms. Braide said that as the police officers were approaching the scene, they heard sounds of “serious gun firing” near the pipeline area; and Mr. Gabriel instructed his men to head towards the direction.”

“Upon arrival, they saw a group of Civil Defence Corp Members coming out from the direction where the shooting was earlier heard,” Ms. Braid, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said.

“The NSCDC men challenged the policemen who were about four in number on what their mission was in the area; ‘saying that it was their sole responsibility (Civil Defence) to guide and protect pipelines,” she added.

An argument ensued thereafter, according to the police statement, and the most senior NSCDC officer, DSC Olufemi, ordered his men, numbering 14, to disarm, arrest and handcuff the police team leader and three other members of his team.

“The NSCDC succeeded in disarming the police team leader, Inspr Sunday Gabriel, handcuffed him, collected his service pistol, walkie-talkie, and police I.D card,” the statement continued.

“As they were about dragging him into one of their standby hilux vehicles, a phone call was put to the Police Unit Commander reporting the situation. The three other officers resisted the arrest and this infuriated Civil Defence Officials who started shooting sporadically to intimidate and subdue the Police officers.

“Before the Police Commander could arrive the scene, the NSCDC officials had taken to their heels abandoning the handcuffed and leg chained Police Inspector with one NSCDC personnel.”

Ms. Braide further said that afterwards, the Police Commander at Mosimi received a “shocking” call from the NSCDC Commander that two of his men had been killed.

“Up till now, the pistol of Inspr Sunday Gabriel, who was badly beaten and stabbed by the NSCDC officials, including his other accoutrements are still with NSCDC,” said Ms. Braide.

This is some funny story..

1. The Police claims that the NSCDC fired shots in the air to intimidate them, not directly at them.

2. The NSCDC is claiming jurisdiction over pipelines, forgetting that theNigerian Police has the highest delegation of authority in Nigeria with regards to protecting lives and properties.

3. What were the other3 officers doing whilst their Oga was being disarmed, handcuffed, leg cuffed and about to be tossed in a van?

4. If the police never fired any shots at the NSCDC, then who shot the dead defence guys!?

5. So did the other3 me run away before calling for back-up or did they call for back up in front of the NSCDC guys.. I ask because they said the NSCDC guys had escaped abandoning the inspector there before the commander arrived.. I would like to know what happened between the arrest of the NSCDC guys arrival of the Police commander..

#Pertinent Questions

1. Why were two law enforcement agencies busy debating jurisdiction instead of tackling the matter for which they were both called to the scene.

2. Why would an NSCDC official take a Police inspector into custody without due cause.

3. This is the second case I am hearing of NSCDC officials not knowing there limitations. During my NYSC days in camp, a soldier head butted an NSCDC official until he was bloodied & fainted because of jurisdiction issues. I remember that the defence guy was challenging the soldier before the beat down.

4. Why didn't both agencies consult their ogas at the top before taking such actions.

5. How did the pipeline Vandals supposedly captured by the NSCDC escape!?

6. If the Police denies firing shots at the NSCDC guys, how did the deaths come about!?

7. Why was the inspector abandoned after he had been cuffed!?

8. What are the rules of engagement of the NSCDC!?

Policewoman, wia r thou I will just recommend dat civil defence and police be merged together cuz most of their jurisdictions over-lapped. But all the same, it is irresponsible of any uniform personnel to open fire on his/her colleague
