Mr excelsiorfarm I am not into local feed for some time now like I stated on my previouse posts... So I don't know the cost of all these ingredient presently, maybe my next trip to the market I will definately find out...

concerning yr question,is d farm all concrete?if not,is d ground clay?but even at this catfish or fishing technology had advance beyond space,there are bio filter that can be used for pond capacity of as much as 20,000 litres & more.what it does is d used water is supplied into d machine,it filters all debris & re supply d dirty water as c

in continuation on what iam writing concerning fishfarm without drainage,when u used biofilter.it filters d used water & supply it back into d pond clean & clear,thats d same tech uk,us etc use to filter sewage water etc into drinking water

That is a very good technolgy considering the fact that the water stays fresh always and no need for drainage..

u need constant light supply, if u choose to run continually, but I can advise that when the bio filter finishes it filtration, the system can be turn off till the next time you choose to change water i.e. it will be as if u are changing water(this will help save electricity cost).concerning cost it isn't that expensive, the challenge will be the cargo cost from abroad, but if you have a trusted person in uk, us or china they can assist to purchase and send to you. There are fish mate, blagdon brand to say a few. The voltages them use are not much, hence a good naija inverter can even compliment the issue of PHCN challenge

they are doing well. We just started giving them 2MM (vital feed) today.

I use a biofilter in my farm and I have to say that to make it work efficiently, u need to keep it on 24/7.Also when u have a lot of fish in a pond, it can't make the water very clean. It will still look cloudy. To recycle water for use in ponds, u will need to pump the smelly water from the pond into a holding tank where u can use alum as coagulant and aerate the water before it can be reused. This process will take 2-3 days. It's just like having a water treatment plant in the farm. Hope this helps. If u need more info, contact me adeymorlah@gmail.com.

what brand of biofilter do u use?continuos flow can give a better result,but a good bio filter,will give a clean,clear water after use,hence post your finding,i blieve it will help aspiring fish farmers & also help have an healthy analysis

there are different bio filters,as there is volks,there is mercedes,they have varying capacity of ponds they can service,thats why i ask if he can elaborate more & a bio filter is different from recirculatory system they make noise about,it is compact,easy to manage,good ones have warranty of as much as 2-3Years,it is recirculatory concept,but not bogus & doesnt

I use hozelocks biofilter and mine is for a fish density of 1500. But presently, I have just 400 fish in my pond and the biofilter struggles to make the water clean. in fact the water can't get clean cos I can't run it 24/7. Also u need high loads of beneficial bateria (aerobic) in the pond on order to metabolize fish wastes (ammonia) into nitrates. Without adequate oxygen in the pond, the biofilter will not work well. An aerator is an absolute must if u are to use a biofilter and they both must be on 24/7.
