CAMOUFLAGE CLOTHES: Is It Illegal For Civilians In Nigeria?! by Okijajuju1(m): 8:52am On Apr 03, 2013 |
I have been wondering if it is illegal for civillians to wear camouflage clothing items in Nigeria. I have heard rumours of military personnel stripping civillians of their camouflage pants and shorts. Also, is it illegal to wear 'POLICE' designer shirts as well.. Thanks. |

Better experiened than told. I think, you can try wearing an army camo then walk through an army check point. Their response/action to you will help you determine if its legal or not. On ur 2nd question, never heard of police designers shirt. 11 Likes |

It is not illegal. It is only legal if it is constitutionally backed. 1 Like |

Even-though people wear these designs but with the level of security in the country now Its advisable not to allow it. To the best of my knowledge soldiers usually arrest civilians in Army camouflage, I remember I heard of such about 2 years ago in Oyo state but as for police design clothings - NO. I wear this myself and no quams.

Nigerian soldiers feel like they are the Oga at the Top. So they like intimidating Civilians at any slightest provocation. they won't even share clothes with you. Pls to avoid bruises, don't dare them or claim right. Don't wear their clothe. He who have ears let him hear. 1 Like |

I don't think there's a law that prohibit it,only that most military personnel in Nigeria are over-zealous,and always high on ogogoro, and they usually vent their frustration on hapless citizen. Its a prohibition created by the army, believing that they are superior to a bloody civilian. 1 Like |
