The more we fail to realise that safety is crucial in everything we do, the more people keep losing their lifes.

Verdict no lessons learnt, only God knows the next person.

Over 100 lives? Burnt beyond recognition for that matter? Unspeakably tragic!

On a side note, I can't help but observe that it would havve been bigger news if it had been an air crash. Does this mean that air crashes are more tragic than road crashes or what?

May God help us. Death would come when it will and how it will, regardless of our actions and inactions.

ILLITERACY IS ACTUALLY THE CAUSE OF MOST ROAD ACCIDENTS IN NIGERIA.
MAJORITY OF THE DRIVERS ON NIGERIAN ROADS ARE LARGELY UNEDUCATED.

Wrong some death are avoidable just like this. What is wrong if the government insists that all cars trucks and buses must be tested every 6 months before they jump on our dead roads, use the European system of MOT not the Lagos type that should have been called road tax taking money with no test done putting cars that are not road worthy back on the highway with false road documents.

Nigerians make easy things look difficult, that's why people are dying unnecessarily we keep blame God and time.

jhydebaba: This country is not just safe. Everything u want to do u have to pray and commit it to God. Is it that we are that religious NO! It's news like this that calls for over-religiousness.
Had it been we live in a sane country where everything works, where u can even sleep off while driving, how many people would remember to pray before traveling

Too bad, RIP to the departed souls.
bros nowhere is safe in dis world ok.

You are talking Toss, absolute crap is coming out of yoir mind, mind you, I'm a Yoruba guy.

Please don't bring tribalism into this matter.

Let's face the fact, our roads are BAD and majority of NIGERIANS knows little about DRIVING as well as ROADS SIGNS.

When people pay for license what do you expect. What is the point of having this road safety if you have people that are not trained how to driving and there are no rules for them to follow.

Terribly unfortunate!

... To start a trip with no premonition of the fate that awaits you. Two minutes before impact, no premonition, just normal passengers with hopes, dreams, plans, expectations. Cut short, in their prime. A grave loss. Very saddening. How do you even begin to condole relatives?

If Only Road safety will learn to do their jobs and track down the Trailers littered along our major roads, these vehicles don't have functional brakes and yet are allowed to operate.Road safety people are only interested in small cars and there expired papers.

Did anyone else read that story about the new proposal to import Road Safety officers including their oga at the top the same way we Nigerians import toothpick and even bottled water that were to be thrown away in Japan after radiation exposure due to the 2011 earthquake & tsunami.

The rationale being that we can't rely on our own people to do a serious work for peanuts while their own public servants in the NASS, state houses of assembly and LGAs are receiving mega millions for doing almost nothing.
So expect more deaths on the roads while we wait for the expatriate road safety officers to arrive our shores.

Afritop: MOST NIGERIANS ARE IGNORANT ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF SPEED LIMITS. ONCE THEY ARE ON THE EXPRESSWAY, WHAT COMES TO THEIR MIND IS "I MUST GET THERE ON TIME".IT IS A DANGER FOR A PEDESTRIAN TO STROLL CROSS OUR EXPRESSWAYS THINKING THAT WE HAVE LEARNT OUR LESSONS. IT IS HIGHTIME WE STARTED PUTTING SPEED BUMPS ON THE EXPRESS AND DESIGNATING ROAD PATH FOR FUEL TANKERS

You know nothing about road design. You can't put speed bumps on the highway. That is why it's called a highway. You should suggest enforcing speed limits. Reducing them even below 100km/h because our highways are riddled with potholes.

naijathings: what? 110 people? that is a large number.. even if na goats.. 110 is still large. oh lord
very large number indeed, if 110 had died in a plane crash, you ll have heard various reaction from all the cronies in government cos a handful of 'who is who' ll be involved, but 110 of the masses has been sent to early grave cos the greed of our govt officials who have neglected the roads and keep awarding same contracts yearly, no one is saying a thing.
