Thing is, I just got a jailbroken iPhone and since i'm no computer guru, I really am at a loss as to how to love-vendor it like what I see from the screen shots displayed. Just yesterday, the Cydia menu on my phone was upgrading some stuff and before I knew it, I had exhausted N1500 credit within a few minutes and I didnt even know! Is it that expensive to download stuff into the phone?

well, considering trawling back all thos pages may be a bother, let me see if i can recap the basics.

and you really want to allow cydia upgrade otherwise you'll have missing sources and broken dependencies.

and do not do this over GPRS/EDGE, get a good wifi connection.

1. you need to be on firmware 2.x, preferably 2.2.

2. you need to be pwned. if you don't know what "pwn" is, then read the asterisked item after all this.

3. you must have Cydia installed (obtainable at the pwning stage, else add apptapp.saurik.com to Installer sources).

4. if you already have Cydia and you've met conditions 1 and 2, then go to 5, else go to 1. 

5. go to Cydia>Manage>Sources>Edit>Add. type in http://Cydia.hackulo.us

6. Now go to Sections>hackulo. install miPatch2.2

7. reboot the phone

made it thus far? good. there are two ways to install all those cracked apps: downloading them into your computer and syncing via itunes 8, or installing directly on the phone via AppShare and Installous.

Via computer (make sure you have itunes 8 installed):

1. go to www.appulo.us

2. download whatever rocks your boat

3. double click to import the ipas into itunes library.

4. simply hook up your iphone, in intunes select the APPLICATIONS tab, check what you want to install, click Sync.


via Appshare/Installous:

1. go back to Cydia>sections>hackulo, install Installous FIRST, then install AppShare.

2. launch Appshare, choose Appulo.us

3. download your apps by following the links and prompst.

4. when you are prompted to DOWNLOAD or INSTALL by AppShare, ALWAYS CHOOSE DOWNLOAD. NEVER INSTALL FROM APPSHARE OR YOUR PHONE WILL FREEZE!!!!

5. Once downloaded, click INSTALLOUS at the bottom, you'll see all downloaded apps there. select each and click INSTALL.

and thats it for apps.


for themes, go back to Cydia>sections>Themes (Springboard). select whatever catches your fancy (always read the MOre Info for screenshots and details).

also for extra pimphood go to THEMES(Lockscreen) for Sliders.

or alternatively, dig deep into ALL PACKAGES to hunt for themes, sliders, wallpapers, battery icons replacement, icon packs, wallpapers etc.

also, don't forget to install Net Fix (search for it or look under Tweaks) otherwise your sms mesages wont show contact names, only numbers. thats because of the default number formatting.

MAIL: start the Mail app, click your service (yahoo or gmail), input your credentials. shikena!

BROWSE THE NET:

just enable dataroaming in settings>general>network

I admit i misjudged your statements about the 'flaw' thingy. 

For the umpteenth time, I wasnt comparing two phones. I was comparing the iPhone with general features available in other smartphones powered by Blackberry OS, Windows Mobile, and Symbian. (think MMS / Removable batteries / Clipboard for example). You keep missing that part as well

I worked on making the iphone 3g work for my brother and it could connect to the zain network for voice but data just did not! data roaming on or off!!!
Thats why I made that post.

I had to return the phone after a week of non- success!!

1. How can I use my bluetooth headset with my iPhone. I turn on the Blue tooth on but they both cant seem to find each other.
2. Is it me, or is the battery life so poor? I'm coming from using a Sony Ericsson W850 cos i like music and then I could listen to songs all day without wearing out the battery but now I have to recharge the battery everyday, sometimes twice a day.
3. As you advised, I tried to sync my phone with Apps downloaded from my PC (more convenient) but it generated this error. Please advise. Thanks.

1. unfortunately im not one for bluetooth earpieces, too cumbersome and i mostly use bluetooth HFL when i drive. however i learned that iphone works best with *official* (read: Apple approved) bluetooth devices. thats not to say it wont workwith generics, just that pairing is a hassle.

2. battery is iffy, but your case sounds extreme; maybe your battery is on the verge of conking out. avoud overcharging else you risk killing the cell entirely. also, dim the backlight, kill wifi and bluetooth if not in use. since i hardly use either iphone as a phone per se, mostly i do my ipoding in Airplane Mode.

3. evidently you missed one crucial step: installing MI2.2 patch from the hackulo section of Cydia. do install this patch and reboot your phone before attempting to Sync. refer to my earlier post on how to add the hackulo source in Cydia.
