SUMMARY:

The Senior Research Analyst will work closely with the Head of Research to develop a research product that will enhance knowledge, insight, origination and public relations for the Nigerian Market, and for the group. They will write periodic and ad hoc reports on the stock market conditions, economic reviews and analysis of their implications to the investment public. They will work with the Head of Research to ensure all research output is of international standards. They will contribute to interactive forums with wholesale and investment banking to present industry research in order to enhance the value of the product to both internal and external clients to include but not be limited to the following Key responsibilities:


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Develop comprehensive research products which should include but not limited to daily Macro Economic and Environmental business related news, market reports, company initiation reports, earnings updates, and quarterly strategy reports.
•Perform periodic analysis on industry issues or stock-specific issues in a timely manner in response to client requests, including but not limited to Periodic/ ad hoc FICC trading and strategy reports, as well as periodic industry reports.
•Rigorously analyse investment ideas in the Nigerian equity markets. Generate research reports, company profiles and business analysis to strict timelines. Generate investment ideas by screening companies especially in special cases such as privatisations, spin-offs, bankruptcies and IPOs.
•Coverage of key corporate clients and their industries.
•Build and analyse financial models from company filings, followed by appropriate company valuations.
•Maintain financial models for companies, updating and releasing a first-reaction piece/report as soon as earnings information is available.
•Preparation of reports, making complete and accurate summary of the findings, rough analysis and estimates of future business results (financial forecast) and conducting comprehensive field research that involves calls to CFOs, analysts, and industry managers to analyse the company and the market.
•Identify and monitor competitors and research market conditions or changes in the industry that may affect sales.
•Accompanying the sales team to make presentations to specific clients.
•Ensure proper maintenance of research history, databases and other research records.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

•Solid practical experience in Equities Research in a global investment bank.
•Solid knowledge of major market places, instruments and market practices.
•Knowledge of principles of global macroeconomics and corporate financial analysis.
•Strong ability to analyse market movements and market dynamics.
•Strong financial modeling skills.
•The ability to create, professionally communicate and present trading and investment ideas.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

•A CFA (or CFA in view), Degree holder in Economics, Business, and Finance related fields.
•3 – 5 years’ experience in Corporate finance or Equities Research.
•A Master’s degree or a professional affiliation would be an added advantage.
