I am very surprised at the general reaction to this post, many of us speak as though we are in utopia where everything is perfect and change is not needed. We fail to realise that change exist and a white man in 2007 could be black in 2013(if you doubt that consult MJ),if as at 2007 GEJ was the perfect gentleman does it mean that GEJ in the mist of power, money, fame, unscrupulous elements,vices/virtues,greed,(etc)and most importantly time can not be a tout in 2013? Lets be factual and truthful, the young man(permit me to say that) over the space of 5years is experiencing a change in opinion towards GEJ and he is not affraid to voice it out and I believe that he as well as many others are free to express their refined view.(Plus) Don't forget that a minute is more than enough for your opinion about someone or something to change.

Sincere 9gerian:
Dont be deceived by the noise from the senate. You may like to read this:

...The funds saved by the task force was confirmed by Okonjo-Iweala, who stated that "through the various biometric screening conducted between June 2010 and 2012, the Maina Task Force was able to save N74 billion that would have been embezzled through the fraudulent activities of those in charge of paying out pensions".
http://pmnewsnigeria.com/2013/03/05/the-pension-mess/

Note also that ALL the pension thieves currently being prosecuted by the EFCC were apprehended through the activities of the same Maina led task force that is being attacked by the senate.

The senate has done atleast two investigations on the Pension system, but none yielded any result, in terms of indictment persons, except the attack on Maina.

My understanding of the issues, is that Maina stepped on big toes while trying to clean the pension system. Those are fighting back through the senate. But you decide who to believe

Comrade @Sincere 9gerian,

It was Nietsche, I believe, who first said principles are indivisible.
In other words, you cannot compromise principles by half or a quarter while projecting a sense of integrity.

But surely, even you must find the revelation detailed below a tad reprehensible, no?

The Senate joint committee probing the mess in the nation’s pension system was shocked to hear yesterday that the man appointed by the Federal Government to clean the stinking scheme placed N88 billion pension fund into the private account of his younger brother, Danjuma Zubairu.

The money domiciled in Fidelity Bank fixed account number 5030024748 has a monthly interest of over N100 million, the committee was told
.

Abdulrashid Maina, chairman of the Presidential Pension Recovery Task Team, who had appeared before the Senate joint committee on Establishment, public service and local government on Wednesday, reeling out what he claimed he saved the government by his work, may have sensed trouble yesterday, failing to appear to continue with his testimony at the hearing.

I thought we could have a discussion without personal attacks. I consider the sentence "I understand you have a duty to perform on these boards and truly admire your indefatigability" as blackmail. Not that I'm not used to blackmails on this forum but I wasn't expecting that from you. I know those notorious for blackmail and how to respond appropriately and deal with them.

When you raised an issue, I responded based on my understanding, without any attack on your person.

But since you'v resorted to blackmail, it means you'r no different from the group of usernames I call ACN/CPC internet rats and cockroaches. Henceforth I'll respond and read your posts with that in mind.

Back to the topic. Any person can make any wild allegation. Have you reasoned why the senate that raised an alarm about how N88billion was placed private account is suddenly quite after Maina was sacked? Does it mean after Maina's sack, the N88billion magically returned to public coffers? Or is the N88billion still in the private account or suddenly inconsequential? Who has seen the N88billion and where is the money now?

As far as I'm concerned, the senate was just throwing figures about to get at Maina.

The FACTS that are established are:
- that the Maina task force saved N74billion. This was confirmed by the Finance minister (Okonjo Iweala) and the money was ploughed back to the budget and appropriated by the NASS.
- ALL the pension thieves currently being prosecuted by the EFCC were caught by Maina and his team. None by the senate.

However, this is neither to defend Maina nor to confirm that he did not steal BUT Like I said earlier, you decide what to believe. I will write no more on this matter.

odechukwu Jonathan fooled el rufai just like he fooled the rest of the country with the no shoe gimmick, but just like el rufai, we all know better now.

Sincere 9gerian: I knew that all along. The major reason I'm SOLIDLY and unshakeably behind the president.

Will this sort of report EVER make front page? Did I hear someone say NEVER? The question is why? Seun, why?

Meanwhile, for those already shedding tears about the source of the report, there are several sources, including this

OBJ and IBB have called Buhari 'clean and honest' numerous times. Why are you not also jubilating at that too?

Sincere 9gerian:
Whether you voted for GEJ or not is immaterial because there's no way of authenticating that.

However, it is COMMON for approval ratings of elected presidents/prime ministers to decline in the first 1 to 2yrs of their tenure or sometimes even all through the tenure. It happened to Obama, François Hollande of France, Cameron, etc. Reason is that expectations are usually not fully met.

However, I find it strange that the same president you claim to have voted for, less than 2yrs ago, is now "your oga". Its either you'r telling lies or you were not fully convinced about him when you voted. In any case, whether you like him or not, he is your president, except you'r a Somalian.

In case you have 2015 elections on your mind, that is still very far away.
lol. Are you that paranoid? To think anyone that says something not favourable to GEJ is about to run against him in 2015? I'm not here to convince you whether I voted GEJ or not. And just like he will say "I don't give a damn"
Btw is he not your oga? I used it to drive home my point. You politicians ehn! Anyway whoever employed you picked the right man for the job. I'm not sure anyone who engages you in a banter will come out with the last word, so...

King George: Mallam Nasir El-rufai the two edged-sword Man who will say one thing today and say another tomorrow ..........

Many people did not understand b4 making comment. Those conversation btw El-Rufai and the ambassador was in 2007. This is 2013, 6yrs later, I put it to you that if you are entrusted with the POWER the President of Naija for 1 yr, it takes only the real fear of God for you to still keep ur head up and say u are upright after all. So a Goodluck Jonathan that was cleaned and upright in 2007, having become the president of 9ja for some yrs can become a Badluck Jonathan that is no longer clean nor upright in 2013. Remember absolute POWER( as found in PDP) corrupt absolutely. GBAM!

To be honest, I am surprised you take offense at my jocular comment.
I can think of at least 20 pseudonyms off the top of head (including myself) that all perform "their duties" with as much gusto as you - even if with a lot less consistency. In all seriousness, my intention was not to malign you in any way, but rather to applaud your fidelity to the current administration and its way of conducting business, in the face of insurmountable odds.

Since you feel slighted, I am withdrawing that remark forthwith.

Back to Maina...who in the right frame of mind would find a gain of 74 billion contentious?

It is interesting, though, that you conveniently side-stepped my earlier discountenance of the so-called fight against corruption, only to then draw my attention to the PM article.

My expressions of disquiet here go beyond corrupt individuals in the senate and public service - of which there are legion, no doubt.

Maina has had a good record of bribing the Abuja press corps and planting flattering stories in the media and yesterday it was revealed to Business Day there had been surreptitious moves to bribe members of the committee, and two senators in confidence, confirmed to Business Day that large sums of money were offered to them but rejected.

To be clear, what is under scrutiny is the blanket of impunity which begins and ends at the Presidency.
Remove this and you cut the Mainas of Nigeria down to size.

Among these expenditures were the bogus expenditure of the conduct of the Biometric exercise of the retirees in the Disapora, which he spent a whopping sum of N240 million to capture less than 20 retirees and for the local bio data, over N220 million was spent”.

Business Day learnt that Maina cooked up the trip as a way of compromising senior civil servants and he managed to get on that trip 100 topshots including a former Police IG who was serving at the time, the head of ICPC. The head of EFCC declined to fly with the team and returned the N7.5 million sent to her as estacode by Maina

Please don't let euphoria corrode your medula oblongata my friend! It has been rather obvious that El-Rufai, Ribadu and others are just as bad as GEJ! Weren't. They all in PDP?.

Nothing good can come out of that party!.

Reno Omokri was right afterall!

El-Rufai has an ego issue and pretty inconsistent too.

Sincere 9gerian:
You'r myopic and naive for trying to discountenance the influence of partisan politics.

If El Rufai says GEJ is "clean and honest" in 2007, but no longer "clean and honest" in 2013, the question will be what has changed between 2007 and 2013? Did GEJ have a brain transplant or face transplant? Is GEJ of 2007 no longer the same GEJ of 2013? The person, GEJ, of 2007, which El Rufai said is "honest and transparent" is still the same person, GEJ, of 2013. What has changed between 2007 and now is that the person, GEJ, is now the president while the person, El Rufai, is now in CPC and CPC wants the presidency too. Thats all.

El Rufai of 2007 is still the same PERSON today and GEJ of 2007 is still the same person today. What has changed, put differently, is positions and ambitions.

If u dont know know dat human beings are the most unpredictable living things on earth, then u should have urself examined, u think humans are logs of wood that remain d same over years?

Folks are leaving the topic to attack sincere 9gerian simply because they don't have anything to buttress their point hence they resort to name calling while cursing and fuming ,every now and then they scream CORRUPTION just because this is the only word they've been paid to use since they are just too dumb to comprehend....smh

I think people attack Sincere 9gerian because he has a penchant for derailing threads and turning it into a pro Jonathan or anti Jonathan debate. I can't blame people who say he is paid to do what he is doing. If he were just someone who loves GEJ of which I see nothing wrong wit that, then he will also accept some of the short-comings of the man. The way he goes about defending obvious short-comings (which is normal) of GEJ is shocking and scandalous.
