Prof Corruption: A waste of money.
Not all that can read and write are literates. Its better to remain silent than to betray your "illiterate foolishness" here on NL. I'm sure your father admired Achebe. He must surely be disappointed if he reads your post on this matter. NL admin should look for a way to keep such "intellectual menace" like u out the door. If only u know "There was a country" even after "Things fall apart". I believe in Achebe's philosophy...A true Biafran. Ohaneze Ndigbo kwenu!

Achebe is not the kind of man that will not leave a plan on how to bury him after his demise. I'm sure he must have told his family not to bury him with the money of our corrupt politicians, including those from the S/E states. They are meeting, but his family wasn't present; that is a sign I guess.
Our nations is at the whims of doom! $400 Billion looted since independence as official figure which is surely an under estimation! *Singing Majek Fashek's "send down the rain".

Okdanny: Should we go on public holiday bcoz we lost a gr8 novelist ?? Maybe when archemedis, Newton, Aristotle , Socrates ,Rutherfood, Ohms, Faraday them died, the world shut down! He did a gr8 for us that's for sure then lets his reputation leaves not a governor leaving his office to attend meeting for burial arrangement , we need to wise up pls

And to think that this man spent his latter days growing hatred speaks to Igbos desperation for a hero.

If he had been the winner of the nobel laureate, we would have been deafened by the echoes of that achievement.

Why is it so difficult for you Nigerians to understand Achebe's philosophy and pains for the plight of Nigeria? Just why? Achebe doesn't hate Nigeria, but hated the way the affairs of the once promising nation is bein run. The looting, the lawlessness n all. Well, any civilian that wasn't entangled to the corruption of the government of the then and present will understand this. Achebe wasn't even in support of the secession of Biafra, but the Pogrom left him no choice. It was the only hope of survival. Don't you get? Some of you don't even understand the facts. Why is it so difficult to understand your own history?
The Igbo nation will always celebrate its heroes and who cares if it makes u depressed? Achebe didn't win the Nobel for his style of writing. Get that! There are better writers in Africa at that time and even now...far better than Soyinka, but he won that year's prize in the category. If u care to know, the world celebrates Achebe in so many ways. I'm sure you are yet to know the man and understand what he stood for.

To honor a distingushed and accomplished writer with a grand burial by his kinsmen is a sign of some sanity in. a crazy abode like nigeria (where thieves, looters, power-grabbers cum terrorist are granted clemency,pardon and even paid renumerations)

A man is remembered by the problem he solved and those he created!!

Achebe solved a lot of literary problems,he brought africa, nigeria and igbos to the consciousness of the world...
A genius at his works..

And for the problems he created, they are dwarfed by those he solved..

I had the oppurtunity of attending Ojukwu burial activities-in enugu.

The lecture at Nike lake hotel delivered by prof Dora was more than an euology! The tribute by emeka anyaoku and joop beecroft was succint and thought provoking!!

And the ode by Prof wole soyinka titled
--"Ojukwu my friend"

The south east governors should imprint achebe's name on the sand of time by forwarding a joint request co-signed by the senathieves and legislooters I̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅̊ SE to name univ. Of nigeria nsukka after achebe!!

When asked if UI can ever be renamed, prof bamiro(former VC and returning officer to INEC during 2011 election), retorted " its not likely but possible, and it would take an outstanding individual with international recognition to achieve that!!
And who is he alluding to..eni ogun!! WS

Peter Obi is not tricking anybody into anything. If your state has somebody of Achebe standing you will understand, ofcourse they do not have. Even the attendees of the meeting knew that Achebe is a world class figure. He not only brought fame to Anambra or SE but Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

Achebe is the only African in the same league as Mandela. Achebe is equally an African most influential celebrity- Forbes.

So this whole thing is not the making of Obi; Nigeria and Africa are celebrating Achebe. It will be big minus for Nigeria and SE should they fail to be part of the grand burial, because already Africa and the world is about to celebrate Achebe big time during his burial. His books are read all over the world- he is the only African and among the few in the world stage with such level of affection.
