Job Title: Head of Underwriting Grade Level: Senior Manager Employment status: Permanent Reports to: Managing Director Job Purpose: The job is to evaluate the risk and exposures of potential clients. It functions to protect the company's book of business from risks that may result in a loss and issue insurance policies at a premium that is commensurate with the exposure presented by a risk. Essential Duties •Analyze risk assessment. •Generate pricing of medical insurance to ensure the right premium is charged for medical benefits provided. •Determine proper premiums and policy terms and set specific policy terms and conditions •Determine the likelihood and magnitude of a payout over the life of the policy with the use of actuarial data and other computer software. •Assist with evaluating and recommending improvements to existing underwriting standards and protocols. •Liaise with business development unit, health management unit, and others to obtain further information, quote rates, or explain company underwriting policies. •Liaise with Clients and communicate underwriting decisions clearly and efficiently. •Develop exclusivity agreements. •Underwrite complex cases and analyse medical reports etc. •Engage in product review and design, scheme design and reinsurance advisory services •Ensure that policy requirements are fulfilled, including any necessary medical examinations and the completion of appropriate forms. •Evaluate possibility of losses due to catastrophe or excessive insurance. •Provide product support to the Business development unit and other internal customers Qualification BSc. in Actuarial Science, Insurance or related fields PGD in Actuarial Science, Health Management & Financing, Insurance or related fields Certifications from related professional bodies is an added advantage Experience Minimum of 10 years post NYSC experience Minimum of 5 years work experience in related field Skills Actuarial in Health Insurance Intermediate user of MS Excel and field related software Analytical and reporting skills Competencies •Accuracy – being able to maintain accuracy •Planning and Organizing/ Work Management •Time Management •Good verbal and written communication •Understand/interpret medical terminology •Innovative Interested applicants to forward their CVs to phapplication@gmail.com within three weeks from now. |
