So it created the lighting that struck Barry, the only ingredient that the particle accelerator explosion didn't bring to the table was the chemicals in Barry's lab which completed the transformation of Barry Allen to a speedster.

it's actually wrong. The reason Barry was in that room was because he followed the reverse flash back in time after he found out that the reverse flash was going to kill his younger self, future flash/Barry intervened by taking his younger self out of the house. Angered by this the reverse flash killed his mom and framed his dad because he thought a family tragedy will cause Barry not becoming the flash but then the reverse flash lost his connection to the speed force and learning that professor wells was responsible for creating the flash in the future, he killed the man and impersonated him, caused the particle accelerator explosion earlier than it was supposed to explode thus creating the flash because he needed his speed to get back to his own time.

He hasn't been erased. He has returned back to the future

I think it's the chemicals that qave Barry the speed, cuz the chemical seem to 'rise up' like how coffee used to do in season 1 when the Reverse Flash is around..Then he qot strucked by the lighteninq and the chemical spilled on him...thus makinq him d Flash..Like how other meta human were affected with their environment( coal tar, weather wizard e.t.c)

The particle accelerator exploded in 2020 which created the flash. Eobard Thawne was obsessed with the flash, like a fan but after he became a speedster, his flash obsession turned to envy and he took up the name reverse flash. He couldn't out match the flash so he decided to go back in time and kill him when he(the flash) was little but didn't succeed as the flash intervened. He then killed the flash's mom but was stuck in the past. He wanted to return to his time but he needed the flash's speed so he impersonated wells and brought forward the particle accelerator explosion to 2014 instead of 2020.

Looking forward to the next episode. Shey I said it here that particle accelerator explosion created the flash. Now we get to see how they minimize the explosion. I'm thinking the flash might be faster than zoom this time.

Episode 20 was crazy. Particle accelerator explosion took Barry out of existence kinda. Iris really showed her feelings to Barry though...

If you guys think that time-travel is warped in the Flash, then you guys should watch 12 Monkeys. I have never seen a warped version of time-travel in any movie or TV series like 12 Monkeys. Time is really messed up thoroughly in that series.

Just finished watching the new flash episode, I can now boldly say that the Particle Accelerator did not create the flash, although it played an important role in his creation. My reasons? Firstly, according to show producer, only a minor fraction of central city are actually meta humans. To be specific, less than 10℅. Despite that everyone was hit by the dark matter from the PA. Why is that, you ask. What the PA does is that it releases a dark matter which mutates the gene of humans. BT in order for that to happen, there needs to be a proxy which depends on the individual's immediate environment. Eg the proxy involved in the mutation of the Mardon brothers was the weather. So why was Barry mutated into the flash and no Weather wizard or Everyman? Simple, he was hit by lightening. Without the proxy, the dark matter is harmless. Which is why a large no of the city were not mutated. Finally, remember the conversation between Barry and his earth 2 doppelganger, he said even though earth 2 Barry was not struck by lightening, he is still a hero. Remember the PA also released dark matter on earth 2.
