Can we use our brains or is it a sin to engage our grey matter ?

Permit me to think for a moment, or see reason , in fact allow me examine the facts and make an informed decision .

I like to see reason with you , but you seem not to want to reason with me, you want me to take a leap by blind faith into the darkness of folly, I refuse to do so.

Logic and Reason and Faith, awesome friends , but you do not like this approach ?


They say,

let my pastor reason for me, and let my MOG think for me, or let brother A and sister B examine the facts, I know I have a brain but perhaps it's only for decoration , okay let's be honest , it's there to coordinate the 5 senses and nothing else.

You know I despair for our Nigerian youth, they are talented, intelligent and more than able, but they have been enslaved by wicked task masters who have taken away their ability to think logically, process information independently and come to logical and reasonable deductions.

Phrases such as " my Pastor said ", "in my church", "as for my group" etc are very common in the body of Christ, suggesting an inability to function as an individual , this is very worrisome.

Brethren,

let us use our brains, God gave us a brain and wisdom , though we can ask for more and more wisdom, the atheists will be no match for us, we will wipe the floor with the pagans and the Muslims will fall into the loving arms of Jesus.

Examine all that you have ever been taught , YOURSELF , with scripture.

It's 'use you brain' Months , April and May, let us see a change here from June.

Boomark: The implication of not using our brains is why some of our brethren rigmarole over a simple question. Some run away from it. some use insults and intimidation to cover the shame of not knowing what to answer. Pride will not allow some say, 'tell me more, lets reason together.' And as for my friends that need to wait for the church fathers to answer the simple question, i pity them because they are not going to Rome any time soon to get answers. trekking to Rome is not an option.

alexleo: The scriptures, we are told is written through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and he remains the best interpreter of the word. If we use only our brain we will become atheists. They use their brain to read the bible that's why they keep finding faults. I tell you I have the Holy Spirit to guide me in reading the bible. I have the Holy Spirit to guide me aright after listening to a teaching or sermon. The very day I start using my brain only to read God's word I ll slide into atheism or free thinking(God forbid). I also advice that you keep in mind what you ve said to others so as not to do it toO. I mean you ve told us not to allow men of God to influence us to the point of we saying- my pastor said, my church said. At the same don't also enforce your teachings on people like those men of God you are talking about so as to avoid seeing people that ll be saying, frosbel said, frosbel said. That's how it starts. Using our brains in the context of GOD's wisdom not the wisdom of this world that comes to naught.

Let me explain with scripture.

We reason with the wisdom that GOD gives us , he sheds light on his word and helps us reason out deep truths by revelation and deduction of logic , tying up all the loose ends.

One prayer I have been praying for weeks is for God to give me more wisdom, more and more and more , so that I can fulfill this scripture :

"For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate." 1 Corinthians 1:19

The Bible says we should be as wise as serpents , it is very important that we use our God given brain with God applied wisdom to destroy the myths, lies and errors of religion and non-religion.

"We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing." 1 Corinthians 2:6

It means THINK , don't just blindly follow religion.

Goshen360: When God said, Come! Let us REASON together. In the New Testament, same God puts the Holy Spirit in a believer, who then are you gonna REASON with if you cannot use your SENSES? and with what are you gonna REASON if you're to come to the reasoning platform with a dumb\empty head\mind? God or Word Reasoning are biblical attributes of MATURE Christians.
