slim fit :
Jonathan probably don't know the meaning of leadership, when you treat your people well they will protect you themselves when you don't the opposite happens. Why must there be a road closure because he is coming making it very easy for snipers to target him, or maybe that's the only way he looks relevant. Maybe that is the only thing that makes him feel like a president.

lekanwj: GEJ has teribble advisers. the fixing of the visit was deliberate to scuttle the convention that has been scheduled for a long time. the mumu self no go think before he takes advise . instead of him to look for ways to deliver on his promises like ACN governors are doing he is busy playing politics with his time. I pity this country with the quality of leaders we have.

Most of you often sound irreparably silly in your vain quest to always criticize, when wisdom suggest you keep quiet in some cases . . .

Here is my take on this issue on ground: The President isn't the only one visiting Lagos tomorrow, his wife is also visiting EKO Hotel tomorrow for another event coupled with ACN Convention. The last time GEJ came to Lagos, the whole Island was shut down, i can't imagine the grid-lock tomorrow if the 3 events are to hold simultaneously.
I believe ACN's Convention wasn't planned yesterday, it must have been planned and date fixed long ago, i'm not sure of the same for GEJ and First Lady's Visit to Lagos but someone or some people in President;s Protocol office are not doing their job properly. GEJ's Protocol office should have been aware of ACN's convention before now.

Leaders are meant to serve the masses, cos the masses voted them in. Security wise, I will suggest GEJ should send a delegate to do the commissioning on his behalf considering the influx of people from all over Nigeria coming for ACN's Convention. Whether the President is transiting part of Lagos from Airport to Ibafo by a Chopper or Road we all know there will be total shut down.

In a democratic society and civilized society, the 3 events can hold without any gridlock. Why must roads or city be shut down because of President's Visit?

PRESIDENCY REPLIES

In point of fact, President Jonathan’s visit tomorrow which was scheduled long before the ACN convention will have
absolutely no effect whatsoever on the convention as he will only touchdown at the airport, transit to Ibafo (miles
away from the ACN convention venue) by chopper and return to the airport the same way for his flight back to
Abuja.
He better travel down by chopper to Ibafo tomorrow cos i have owanbe things to attend along that axis tomorrow grin

President Jonathan is President of the whole of Nigeria. Who voted him in?

STATEMENT BY THE SENIOR SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT(PUBLIC AFFAIRS) DR. DOYIN OKUPE ON THE STATEMENT BY THE ACTION CONGRESS OF NIGERIA’S NATIONAL PUBLICITY SECRETARY, ALHAJI LAI MOHAMMED CALLING ON LAGOS STATE GOVERNOR, BABATUNDE RAJI FASHOLA TO PREVENT PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN FROM VISITING LAGOS
Our attention has been drawn to the unfortunate and irresponsible comments of Alhaji Lai Mohammed, National Publicity Secretary of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in respect of President Goodluck Jonathan’s impending visit to Lagos.
Lai Mohammed is obviously misguided and mischievous in his disposition. It is difficult to understand or explain how he expects Governor Babatunde Fashola to control or obstruct the movement of President Jonathan, the President and Commander -in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
It is obvious that Alhaji Lai Mohammed does not have the least of understanding of the workings of government or official protocol. The insult to the president of the nation who is the symbol of our collective sovereignty as contained in his letter to Governor Fashola is obviously a product of a warped mind that is equally evil and unprogressived.
We have always known that Alhaji Mohammed is not fit to be a national officer of a decent political party as evinced by the outbursts and vituperations that emit from his shallow mind.
We know for a fact that Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola is of higher breed with proper upbringing and will not descend to the level of debased political wretchedness to which Alhaji Mohammed belongs.
We wish to state categorically that the President’s visit to Lagos cannot in any way affect the proceedings of the ACN convention or its proposed merger with other parties. Such thinking can only come from a mind intent on making mischief and raising false alarm as usual just in order to score cheap political points and heat up the polity unnecessarily.
Nigerians must now know Alhaji Mohammed for what he is: a confusionist, scaremonger and a debased politician with a belly full of deceit, mischief and treachery.

ACN CONVENTION IS MONTHS-PLANNED EVENT AND HAS BEEN LONG FIXED. PRESIDENCY SHOULD BE AS CURRENT AS ANY NIGERIAN IS! SINCE THE INEPTITUDE OF THE PRESIDENCY IS YET BEING DISPLAYED, THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO, BUT FOR THE SAKE OF INNOCENT-YET INTELLIGENT MASSES OF THE PEOPLE OF LAGOS, LET HIM SEND A MINISTER. AFTER ALL, IS IT NOT JUST A SMALL COMPANY (THOUGH BEEN SEEN AS A BIG DEAL ALL because WE ARE BEEN BEREFT OF INDUSTRIALISATION IN NIGERIA), I AM SERIOUSLY THINKING OF WHO WILL COMMISION AJAOKUTA STEEL- INVITE ALL PRESIDENTS?

Monimatic: LIAR Mohammed again.

ACN park well, how can you compel a governor to compel a president not to perform his official duties because of a convention that will be filled with thugs.

President Goodluck Jonathan, GCFR, is going to Commission Wempco Steel Mills Ltd located at KM 8, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The coming to Lagos of the President has been planned in his itinerary since last year.

So why all the fear, noise and signature propaganda by the ACN and it's supporters, when they were fully aware ahead of time, that the president will be coming to Lagos for official duty.

What are they afraid of, since they claim, they are a viable opposition party and they are the ruling party in Lagos State and the South West, then they should go on with their convention without generating issues where they are no issues.
Why are they afraid of GOODLUCK JONATHAN's presence in Lagos?

We all know the president is incompetent and unreliable, but that doesn't mean the ACN and their cohorts should use their media propaganda to brainwash and create false hood regarding anything the President does.

To be a responsible opposition, that will bring change to this country, the ACN should be practise CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM and not DESTRUCTIVE CRITICISM.

DISCLAIMER:
I am not a President Jonathan Supporter, neither i am a Tinubu Supporter or a Buhari Supporter, and i do not belong to any political party, the views expressed here, are my personal opinion, I SAY THINGS, THE WAY THINGS ARE, NO SENTIMENT OR POLITICAL UNDERTONE ATTACHED.

All i can see is a crop of naive nairalanders here.
The presidency has been scared since the day merger of paries was announced.
The president knows that he stands no chance of winning elections once the merger is signed and sealed.
One of the requirement for the parties to merge, is for the separate parties to each hold a convention.
The convention is what ACN is trying to hold. Gej and hid advisers are trying to scuttle the convention because ACN is the backbone of the APC merger. Why must a mere commissioning of a company be attended by GEJ? GEJ knows that his visit to lagos will paralyse movement in lagos which will consequently affect the attendance of the convention by ACN members. GEJ's coming to lagos on the day of ACN convention is not a coincidence, but a deliberate action to scuttle ACN convention.
The responses by the presidency from the two attack dogs, Abati and Okupe clealy confrims this.

If its true the ACN wrote the governor on the presidents visit, then ACN shuld equally share the honor of retardeen with GEJ because i do not see why the ACN shuld be complaining, wht needs to be sought is very good and effective security and traffic arrangement with proper route planning for motorists so as to reduce the inherent gridlock this will cause.

On 2nd thought,i hav seen the president move around several times in ABJ and there is nothing compared to te gridlock and confusion we always suffer in lagos anytime a VIP is visiting. Why must we always suffer when these people are in town?

No More Cancellation Of Sanitation Exercise For WASCE, UTME print

The Lagos State Government says it would no longer cancel the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for national examinations, such as the West African School Certificate Examination, WASCE, the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, and others.

The government said it would no longer succumb to any form of blackmail from agencies of government at the federal, state or local government levels requesting for the lifting of order on restriction of movement, during its monthly environmental sanitation exercise.

Commissioner for the Environment, Mr. Tunji Bello disclosed this during inspection of ongoing environmental projects in Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

He also advised examination bodies both at local, national and international levels to desist from fixing local or national examinations like General Certificate Examination, GCE, National Examination Council, NECO and WASCE on any last Saturday of the month as the state government would no longer accommodate future requests.

According to Bello, “event planners, and planning officers at various levels of government should not fix national, state or local government events on any of the last Saturdays of the month, as the Lagos State Government will no longer entertain such request.”

He added that Lagos, as Africa’s fastest growing mega city, could not afford to toy with the issue of sanitation as the population of the state has continued to increase in leaps and bounds, and as such cleaning of all the nooks and crannies of the state must be done at all times.

The commissioner warned that the laws of the land was no respecter of persons and as such individuals, groups, corporate organizations and governments at all levels should ensure that the last Saturday of every month is kept free from engagements between 7.00am and 10.00am in order to allow citizens full participation in the state-wide exercise.
