National Mirror 18th April, 2013 - A suspected terrorist was yesterday set ablaze by angry residents as he allegedly attempted to plant explosives in a mosque close to the palace of the Emir of Kano Alhaji Ado Bayero.

The incident occurred at about 8:30pm, according to sources who disclose that the suspected terrorist came in a tricycle for the attack.

He was said to have been over powered by the residents, who suspected him as he allegedly dropped some parcels around the mosque and hurried out of the place in his tricycle.

National Mirror gathered that the suspect was given a chase by some of the residents after one of them raised the alarm that attracted others.

After his arrest, dangerous weapons, including AK 47 trifles and explosives were said to have been recovered in the tricycle.

Sources said at that point, he was given the beating of his life, after which he was set ablaze by the mob.

It was also learnt that in the process of setting him and the tricycle ablaze, some of the explosives went off.

It was however not known whether there were other casualties arising from the explosions.

Spokesman for the Joint Task Force, JTF, Captain Ikedichi Iweha confirmed the incident to our correspondent on phone but said he was expecting details from the security operatives dispatched to the scene.

“Yes there was an incident close to the palace of the Emir, and we learnt a suspected terrorist was burn to death by residents as he tried to attack a Mosque around the area with explosives.

“For now that is the only information available, until we receive details from our men. I cannot say if there were other casualties our arrests,” he said
