we will soon start seeing incentives like "FREE 2k credit if you port to our network"....because once you port they have you hooked for the next 90days at least...

Slyr0x: The porting war continues with Airtel, one of the leading telecommunications companies in Nigeria seemingly throwing a shot at MTN in its television commercial, The move.

The ad shows an upwardly mobile man relocating from a dilapidated yellow painted building to a cleaner posh neighbourhood with houses painted red.

MTN recently aired its number portability ad with former Etisalat point-man Hafiz ‘Saka’ Oyetoro performing the now popular ‘I don port o’ song.

Watch the Airtel ad below:

This one is called preemptive strike. Yabbing Mtn first before them yab like Etisalat and Glo. grin

This will definately bring about consumer sovereignty, cos i know etisalat will offer me more freebies this time around. And big thanks to OBJ for allowing privatization in the telecom sector in the first instance.

People need to calm down on MTN though... All the networks have their problems and MTN has the Largest subscriber base... In my area, I browse mostly with Etisalat and make calls with MTN, but when I'm going to my friend's place for a few days, I hold my MTN line cos Etisalat is so poor in that area... So if those networks that are arlready having problems now have more people porting to them, wont their problems get worse??

Why do you want to port your account number when you can simply go and open a new account in any other bank and then 'port' your money there?

I don't know who has the better network, but MTN's advert is more interesting. I put on the repeat button and was learning Saka's leg dance. smiley

I tot am alone in dis mess! U will have enough airtime to make call but mtn will tell u dat u have no airtime. Will dey tell me dat dey are not aware of dis malfunction, since am not d only person experincing it? Dis is quite enough reason to port to another network. MTN seems to be d only firm dat think dey can do what eva dey want and get away with it. If not, i see no reason why u shouldnt tender an apology and avert future occurrence when eva u messed up.
