What are the early signs of diabetes? Any blood sugar level stats that might be useful?

Your sugar level should be between 4-7mmol/L
Re: Top Ten Facts About Diabetes by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 3:57pm On Apr 26, 2013
If you pee and it foams like beer or ants crawl all over it.. sure signs there is sugar in your blood.. too much of it that your kidneys cannot process efficiently

Interesting.
Of course there are Nigerians with diabetes, just that the case is very rare. And I wonder why because we consume food high in insulin .

Reduce your carbohydrate intake 2 stuffs like rice, yam, garri e.t.c. Its not always direct/raw sugar.

No, but I saw it listed as a symptom while doing my Google research.
Some other symptoms occurred, but my doctor confirmed hat it was due to my change in diet; vegetables, spinach, brown rice etc.
I know my body and I pay attention to every change.

I doubt they're Nigerians. I've yet to meet Nigerians with diabetes.

There are many Nigerians with diabetes. Just from around me, I can count many
We buried an uncle in Jan
Two friends' moms had leg amputation
My brother-in-law is on daily insulin
Another friend lost her hussband to it. I think he had diabetic ulcer
Diabetes is real
I check my blood sugar. Many times, I have reduced blood sugar (not the high one) and have to talk a sugary drink

Help yourself, lower the level of sugar in your blood stream; give ur pancrea less work to do, take a cup full of bitter leaf sap atleast once or twice in a week. Watch ur body system, it depends on the amount of sugar in ur system

U be Otondo.
It simply means that less attention is being paid to d fact that the disease causes mor harm in the human body than on the outside..Thats what makes it important..

MANOSUB: Is diabetic hereditary?

That is a very complex question but I'll say it is hereditary since some families are known to have it in their lineage. No matter how they tried to prevent it, they will eventually have the disease.

eazysally: Am not okey with number 6, how can something be important and is still a 'silent killer disease'
.

Simple. You can suffer from it for a long time without knowing. In fact I know someone who was diagnosed first time when he already had kidney failure. He felt very unwell as he was uraemic. This is in Europe. He's on dialysis for years now. Still awaiting suitable kidney for transplant.

Also people with diabetes (including undiagnosed ) can suffer "silent heart attack" and will not realise it so may not rush to hospital. Can literally drop dead.

Too much sugar damages the nerves that you use to sense pain, so the typical chest/neck/jaw/left arm pain of heart attack is not felt.

Note that kidney/heart/liver failure does NOT mean they completely stopped working! They are compromised enough to affect normal function....and typically goes down hill.
