,because men don't joke wt their stomach(especially naija men) wink

because they're pigs. Make all the food in the world, doesnt stop them from being the pigs that they are

so that whole "food is the blah blah to a man's blah blah" crap should be retired

There's a group on facebook called "So you think you can cook"

Join facebook(If you're not already a member) grin and the group
you'll get loads of ideas on how to cook Naija food.

And don't stress cooking it's no big deal you can get rusty when you're out of practice, but if you try cooking once or twice a week you'll get the hang it. wink

Well, I can cook Nigerian dishes, but not those complicated ones. Just hope my husband can cook, so he can teach me. Or I can just buy a recipe book or ask one of my family members to teach me.

It still does not make me any less marriageable

You basically need to know how to cook peppersoup, porridge yam, okro, ogbono, egusi and bitterleaf soups, jollof and fried rice, stew, moi moi.
Making eba, semolina and frying plaintain are a piece of cake.
All the soups are basically the same method just a slight difference.
Frying akara and making meat pies and chin chin are optional, you can order those from naija caterers. lipsrsealed

Oyibo foods like lasagna, shrimp scampi etc, stuffed this and that ,you can follow recipe from the internet to wow your guests.
Cooking is not hard at all. It's the cleaning up I hate the most.

@poster, Where was your mother all this while? I don't expect anyone to remember something as cooking at 5. I didn't even start cooking at that age undecided And I really don't know why parents start blaming children when you can't cook or speak your language. Were the children training themselves? sad

You can start learning from here https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-25475.0.html

I bloody hate ogbono. gbegiri too! The smell is disgusting. Egusi sucks too. Infact to hell with crayfish. Ugh. Wouldnt be caught dead making that crap. Infact I'd probably end up dead anyway if I had to be in the kitchen around that stuff

You're going one-sided here. Some of the children don't want to learn too. If they're passionate about it, then they can do it. Sometimes the parents try their hardest, but if the children are not putting much effort into learning, not much can be accomplished

Are the parents not in the position to guide the children? Or when did children start having the last say to subjects like this in the family?

It's like a classroom! The teachers guide you, however, If the children are not willing to learn, you can beat the sh^t out of them, nothing will make them learn. They're simply not interested. undecided Sure, they don't have the last say, But if they don't want to learn they won't.

I was like a mother to my little sister, you can't imagine how hard I tried to teach her Yoruba! The girl is simply not interested, she cares not to learn it. We're talking about children here. They have their own little mind.

No be your fault. I wasn't expecting any less from a Nigerian man. Ooops did I say Nigerian man, yep! Too damn lazy! You're bachelor, do you always buy food outside? Do you always go and cry to mommy to cook your food? You can't cook either? Then you're not only useless, but also worthless. Seriously!
Re: She Can't Cook: by TheSly: 12:58am On Apr 15, 2008
Too damn lazy!
And u r not lazy abi?

And come to think of it. . . . . .if she cant cook. .and i am doing the cooking. . what would she be doing? watching Nollywood?

How did you learn how to speak your language? Why I ask this question is because I can't speak my language. I find it hard to believe that my parents who I find it hard to say No to wouldn't find it easy to school me into speaking my language and then say I wasn't passionate about it.

How did I learn? I lived in Nigeria. There are so many words I don't know. Yet who did I go to to ask? My mom, of course.

Stillwater, You're not reading my post clearly. I said It can't be only one sided. Either your parents are not willing to teach you, or you're not willing to learn, or neither of you care. In your case, were you willing to learn?

You don't have to cook everyday or night. You can't teach her? You're too lazy to teach her? Boy, You must learn to enjoy cooking for both of you then
