It was a shock to watch on major media outlet; CNN, BBC, NTA, etc the self confession of a famous criminal Shehu Musa who have been terrorizing the resident of Kaduna State Unchecked with collaboration with some bad eggs in the police force and some Ex-robbers. They took the state under siege terrorizing the people by torturing, arresting and defrauding innocent members of the public his activity went unchecked for a longtime before he was finally arrested by the police for the years he has been impersonating a prominent crime fighter (Ali Kwara) who has over the years worked so hard in collaboration with the police authority to eradicate or reduce crime in our society.

Among the various crimes committed by Shehu Musa has arresting innocent citizen with the aid of some bad eggs in the police force and His team which is made up of people who are Ex-Robbers going by the title they gave themselves. They arrest innocent members of the society with the false pretense that they are thieves and that they are fighting crime after such arrest the person is tortured and the family is made up to part array with huge sum of money has bail if not their love ones will continue to suffer in his detention. In which he shares the money with his collaborator in the police and member of his team, this alone made the business strive as they saw in it a gold mine. The number of people who came out to attest to his crimes and what they suffered under him was incredible over 100 families and the list is still counting.

In light of this its imperative for the government to but adequate mechanism in place to check people of this kind of dubious character who claim to be assisting the police in fighting crime.

Although many country including the developed nation had to fight crime and mafia establishment at various point in time, the approach in handling the menace was more critical.

For Nigeria to survive this security unslot, she need to severally apply the full wrath of the law including outright confiscation of properties and imprisonment whenever there were infractions.

It’s not for the Nigeria police to arrest this famous criminal that matters but prosecution as not been successful as expected, implementation has been the major problem with enforcement of Nigerian law which has in turn given raise to criminality.

For A Nation which is recently as at cross road due to insecurity. I expect the relevant Authority, the inspector General of Police, Commissioner of police, the criuts and all well meaning Nigerians to ensure that Shehu Musa and co will face the music, the bad eggs in the polish fish out if not the repositioning, reform embarked on by the IG and the transformation of the Goodluck Jonathan Administration Agenda will only be a mirage and Nigeria is heading towards a failed state.
